If you google 'The Economics of Mental Health' you will find the book authored by Richard G. Frank (aka R.G. Frank). RG Frank is an expert on the costs associated with mental health and has published numerously on this subject. So is the LOST R.G. a reference to Richard G. Frank? I'm not sure, but it sure got me thinking.
So here's my theory on the economist:
The healing powers of the island would put some of the most powerful industries in the world out of business, primarily pharmaceutical. Tobacco and alcohol would also go under because the island could also heal addictions. But for the purpose of this theory, I will focus only on pharma.
I can think of 2 reasons why RG has interest on the island:
1. RG wants to destroy the island because he's already established in the pharma/medical industry and he wants to protect his position, or
2. RG wants to 'own' the healing powers of the island to profit from it. As an investor, I certainly define this as an emerging market.
That's all folks...now back to work.
