Since season 1 I have been pushing the fact that Christian is alive and is/was involved with the Dharma Inititave (as many of the losties dads are/were). The episode Expose' gave a huge clue as to how he faked his death. Chrisitan is a world class doctor and knew just how much medusa spider venom to inject himself with to "appear" dead. Nikki's statement about how the venom slows your heart rate enough to even "fool a doctor" was an obvious clue. We know that the morgue guy who helped Jack identify his "dead" father was also seen on the beach after the crash. Can anyone rationally explain why the morgue guy was on the plane? Obviously he was in on it. It is obvious to me that Christian faked his own death to get both of his children (jack and claire) and his future grandson (aaron) on the island (and maybe sawyer) - for what purpose we are going to find out in season 4. All these points people are beginning to discuss on the boards which is great, here is where my theory goes a bit further.
I have always thought that LOST would end in an epic battle of father vs son (Christian vs Jack). And most likely all the losties will have to reconcile their past daddy issues - I think you will see MORE dad's show up on the island alive, we already are getting a glimpse of this with Locke's dad. My prediction is that there are a group of remaining Dharma members on the island in hiding who weren't killed by the Hostile's purge. Christian, being a former high level Dharma doctor, will end up regrouping the remaining members and leading them (and the losties) into a battle against the Others to regain control of the Island. Here is the kicker - Jack leads the Others against his father. We already see signs of Jack assimilating into the Others group, he is seprating himself from the LOSTIES, you can thank Kate for part of this (sleeping with Sawyer). He specifically told Kate not to come back for him, he doesn't want to be with the losties anymore. Also, Achara (Thailand chick) said Jack is a leader and a great man. So to recap - Christian leads Dharma and Losties vs Jack and the Others.
There might even be a third group, one more threatening than the Others (think along the lines of the mysterious smokey) that might come into play toward the end of Season 4 and will cause Dharma, Losties AND the Others to put aside their differences to come together and defeat the island's ultimate evil.
