Many people tend to think that the incident caused the characters to enter a new reality where the island is blown up and oceanic 815 lands in LAX. This sounds like it would be the most logical answer, but we both know that when we feel right about something on LOST something tends for it to go the opposite way. But what if the incident just causes the losties to travel back to 2004 with their memories intact to Los Angeles, where they were supposed to be if oceanic 815 never crashed.
To me it does not really make sense to create a whole new timeline in the last season and play the "we have to go back" thing again in the beginning of season 6. I think they traveled to 2004 and will appear at LAX and notice that oceanic 815 went missing. Oceanic 815 crashed on the island like it always did. Picture it like having to two Jacks in 2004. Jack 1 (past Jack) is on 815, but crashes on the island and is going to repeat the events for seasons 1 -5. Jack 2 (present Jack) appears in LAX after going through the events of season 1-5. He notices that nothing has changed, he has only time traveled to 2004.
I think the writers will trick us into thinking everything has reset in the beginning of season 6. The season will show the next 3 years where Jack 2 and company try to find out what to do next, maybe even revealing that they are the causes to certain events that happened in the past. I am not saying that this will happen word from word, but I think something on these lines will happen. I have not read spoilers, so I do not know if this theory is already shot down, but if anyone agrees or would like to add on I would love to hear it.
