NAMES ALREADY CROSSED ARE MINDS ALREADY UPLOADED TO CERBERUS
When Flocke crossed John Locke´s name from the list at the wall it was clear: he was crossing the last update to his system. All the other candidates names already crossed had already been uploaded to the system.
As I already said before:

One of the first description of the monster given in the show was "a swirling ball of dust". Other effect we saw in the first season is that the monster is able to lift people up from the ground, defying gravity.
That´s it the key.
As we know, the Island has huge electromagnetic activity. In the future, we will probably be able to use this electromagnetic fields in different ways as we do now. For instance, we could create a robotic being made from several small grains of metallic dust, which could arrange themselves in different ways and create shapes and illusions.
Also, the quantum state of someone´s mind could be transfered to such robot in order to create an intelligent being. This is the base of the book "Egan’s Dust Theory". In LOST, both mind and body can be described in quantum wave functions and uploaded to Cerberus.
Thus, the monster is a non-human being but with the quantum states of consciousness of people. A computer simulation of a human being.
Flocke said "he was human before" and that he is already dead.
