Carole Littleton - Imposter by spoon

his idea popped into my head last night for some reason while re-watching Through the Looking Glass. As with many ideas I've had about things Lost, it turns out I am not the first to realize it, but I haven't seen it mentioned here (there is some discussion on Lostpedia). Thought it would be worth bringing up and developing a bit though.

In Claire's flashbacks we see her mother, Carole, suffer a horrible car accident and remain in a coma for a very long time. Christian suggests to Claire that she consider stopping life support, as her mother may never recover or lead a normal life again.

An unknown amount of time later, she is still in a coma, and Claire gets pregnant. We assume she is still in a coma when Claire leaves Australia, very pregnant. Crash, Aaron is born, Aaron arrives in LA with Kate as a < 1-year old (2005). In 2007 Carole shows up in LA by coincidence getting her settlement from Oceanic. She ends up receiving Aaron from Kate.

I find it very unlikely that this is the real Carole for a few reasons:
- the actress changed (coma actress and 2007 version)
- She certainly seems to be living a normal life again (why would the show focus on her prognosis made by Christian if it wasn’t relevant?)
- There was no explanation for her recovery. The Oceanic 6 would have had no idea that she had been in a coma so wouldn’t suspect anything. Some speculation has been that Jacob healed her as we assume he did for Juliette's sister, but there's no evidence of this.
- Aaron is by nearly anyone’s account on this forum of great importance. Shuffling him off to live with granny doesn’t make much sense in the narrative.


What would make more sense is if Carole is actually an imposter, and Aaron has been placed in the hands of one of the warring parties, which one is anyone’s guess. I’m inclined to believe that it’s the Widmore/ MIB side of the board, and that Aaron will grow up to be Jacob.
