This is really just a response to a theory by Naldo called "John Locke has never been John Locke"
It seems that a lot of people in the comments suggested that it would make no sense for John Locke to have always been MIB because it would be a waste of character development. I totally disagree. I have also thought that, since birth, John Locke has been MIB. But who is to say that MIB is some God-like character? I'll admit I don't know many specifics about reincarnation, and I may not even want to go there, but I do believe if that is the case, MIB/Locke would not completely realize what he was or what he is doing until way later in life, as in one of the hundreds of events that happened to him on the island. If this were the case, and MIB/Locke isn't some God-like being, then it totally makes sense for his charter to still have revelation/development.
The way I see it,everyone I watched "The Incident" with, and I'm sure the majority of people watching around the world, assumed that MIB became Flocke when Ben killed Locke or when 316 crashed. Although that does make sense, we have to remember the show we are watching. My experience with LOST is pretty much when I think I have an answer narrowed down, it's usually way off (which probably negates this whole theory lol)
I don't think that the answer to anything we are looking for can be found with hard evidence. I think we have to think about the things that seem totally impossible at first and work out how they could work out.
On a side note (and I know I'm rambling) I don't see Jacob and MIB being supernatural beings. I think they are "special" people that may have had some revelation about the island, just like I believe some of our losties will be. I think the only "supernatural" character on the show is the island itself, and it reveals itself to certain people. No Gods, no undead, just people who eventually "get it"
