So as we all know there are plenty of various religious attributes to this awesome show. Here are just a few subjects I'd like to quick touch on.
First lets start with the definition of temple. The defintion of temple is "a place of worship consisting of an edifice for the worship of a deity." So when they talk about going to the temple, there is a person, place, or thing that has deity over them that they actually worship. Who could that person, place or thing be? Maybe its unexplainable and it is the Island itself.
It's also interesting that in the Old Testament, Exodus Chapter 25, God told Moses to build a temple where he could dwell among them. I think that is a key idea to hold on to. The temple in the Christian faith is where God dwells among them. Could the temple have been made so that person place or thing could dwell among them and have communication with them.
If I may continue to hold on to this Old Testament idea a little bit longer. I looked up different pictures in regards to what the temple looks like that God told Moses to build. I've inserted a picture below.

Notice that there is a wall surrounding it, just like the wall we continue to run into. Also there are many different layers to the temple. Different places for different people according to their worthiness. Possibly Echo, Boone and others will be in different sections of the temple. There is a "court", possibly where the smoke monster comes from and is the ultimate judge. The altar for sacrafice, possibly where there has to be a sacrafice in order to continue on and finally what is called the Holy Place where God's spirit actually made its home. Only certain people/priests were allowed to go into this place under certain/ rigorous conditions and laws. Just like in the show. I mean you have to go to this certain cabin, or through certain people, or the island chooses you to reveal itself to, its really never up to you.
But as I've learned in the Christian faith, one man (Jesus) broke the wall down so that we didnt have to jump through all these laws and religious methods to have a personal relationship with God. I think John Locke is kind of doing that for the island. He came back from the dead (as did Christ)and is taking his people to go see "the man behind the curtain".
Although I think we'll come to find that jacob is the guy who is keeping us from the actual "God" that the temple was actually built for. We see that manipulation and deception is a powerful tool in this show. Maybe Jacob has been manipulating and decieving people for his own personal benefit to keep people away from having the power or knowledge he has.
The temple is a place of safety, where people get cured. We've never been told that, that is where jacob is....cuz he's in the cabin...
It'll be interesting to see where the show takes us. Thanks for listening to me ramble. :)
I love lost.
