First theory here guys so be easy.
Ever wondered what that mysterious ring of ash round jacobs' cabin is?
I believe it to be some sort of protection from the island, but wait. . . The others take orders from Him right? why would he need protection?
Because jacob had his own agenda!
This would explain why Locke wants or has to kill him. Because the island has told him to. I feel the ring of ash is to protect Him from the smoke monster. I dont beieve that there has been anyone who has had connection with the island as much as locke now has, including, widmore ben richard ellie etc So therefor they would not have any knowledge of this. This may hint to why John heard Jacob say 'help me' because he is trapped in his cabin and has been for many years to keep him away from his death.
Many holess in this thoery and not very backed up with facts, but as we all know theres not many about jacob. Just playing about with what we've got. Comments would be appreciated .
