First off im going to start with Jacob and esau. When they were talking on the beach in the finale esau said he would eventually find a loophole and kill jacob.Why does he need a loophole and why does he hate jacob so much.I think he needs a loophole because he himself is actually dead and therefore can't harm jacob.Also I think jacob was the one who killed him.Something that supports this could be the brainwash video that said "god loves you as he loved Jacob".Notice it says "loved" that could be because of him murdering easu. I think what he did was that he burnt him alive took his ashes and sprinkled them where his cabin is to trap him there. And also the smoke that came from the body burning caused black smoke somehow making him the monster.I think he could use the smoke monster form of him while he was stuck in the cabin.But when he was released he could start possesing bodies.I think whoever stepped through! the ashes released him.When Illana or whatever her name is and her people went to the cabin they were looking for esau and panicked when he wasnt there.I think that when locke and ben went to visit jacob they actually visited esau.The explains "help me" and also esau in season 5 looks like the mysterious man in the cabin.
