LOST Theories - DarkUFO

Jack Knows Everything by System1988

OK this IS a pretty far- fetched theory of mine but just follow me on this one:

Jack is the main protagonist of the show that much is clear. The show started with him, the final season starts with him, LOST will end with him.

The main factor about being the protagonist of such a show comes with a price and many many many responsibilities (character and real- life).

Mathew Fox has many times hinted that he knows how all this is going to end. Well to me he does not only speak as Mathew Fox but also as Jack Sheppard when he talks Nostradamus to the fans. This is maybe the only privilege Mathew has as a main protagonist: He knows everything. And he knows everything as Jack also.

But how can this stand? Jack has proven to be a very stubborn, narrow- minded character and little has changed in his overall character. What has indeed changed are his beliefs. He has acted no differently in the entire series than a man who knows nothing.
Well, I beg to disagree.

In LOST pilot part 2, when Kate, Charlie and himself were hunted by Smokey, after visiting the front part of the plane, Jack appears have sort of a "non realistic behaviour". What do I mean by that? If you watch the Pilot part 2 carefully you will hear him say after the chase "I hide myself behind the bushes" or something very similar. Saying that really calm made me suspicious.

"Hide behind the bushes?" Come on! In all LOST seasons hiding behind bushes never worked against Smokey. Hiding inside "tree log gatherings" is another thing. But bushes? No, not a chance, I believe that Jack met Smokey face to face from the very start of the show.
Remember how Ben was judged by Smokey? The "judge smoke" had shown Ben memories of his, how his daughter died etc. LOST has proven to be in a loop so Jack must have memories of all this happening over and over again. Could have Smokey caught up with him in the Pilot and showed him how all this is going to turn out "via memories" of Jack's "loop past"?

Jack is not a man of Faith so if such a thing would have occurred he must have thought he was suffering from post- traumatic stress, that what he had experienced were delusions and he might have simply ignored it.

After all he did not seem too surprised to see Smokey trying to drag Locke inside the Cerberus vent at the final episodes of season 1. In fact he did act extremely fast to save Locke by telling Kate to throw dynamite in the pit. How on earth he was sure that dynamite would work? The only explanation is that he knew it would work because he has done it again. That's why he wanted to carry the dynamite so badly. So that he could save Locke.

Jack has always seemed to survive the toughest situations, yet every single decision he made turned out for the worst. Smokey surely wants most if not all Losties dead or far away from the island. If Jack did follow what Smokey has shown him then it's not a big surprise why he fails as a leader. Following loop memories is not a good thing. Thank god Locke made a believer out of him. What I am trying to say is that free will does not exist in the show until Jack detonates Jughead at the end of season 5. Until then he acted with everything Smokey presented to him.
Remember what Jack tells Kate at the season 5 finale? "Nothing in my life has felt this right". This is crucial. Jack hints that nothing he did all this time in his life, pre crash and after crash had any meaning since he acted as a pawn. Free will takes over, jughead is detonated, Losties return to LAX, memories intact and change everything. It only ends once. Everything else is just progress.
Progress that Jack alone makes every time he tries to “fix” things. It’s in his character. Whether he tries to change what he knows will happen or he just lets it turn out as he saw it happen the last time, Jack knows EVERYTHING. He knew he could bring Charlie back after he found him hanged from a tree, as he knew many other things. He always felt bad for himself when he failed. When he failed to save the girl drowning in season one he knew he could if he had done things differently. Many examples can be found thoughout the series indicating that Jack has always had a plan.

Crazy eh? Jack being the one who is actually the biggest pawn yet the greatest manipulator. He always tried to get off the island so desperately. Maybe he wanted to escape his pre-determined loop journey.... he did seem quite eager to escape solo via sub during season 3 after all.

Ok I know what you will say... far fetched. But mark my words Jack knows everything whether his overall actions indicate otherwise or not I am convinced that something is off with Jack since season 1. Always so determined, always so focused. Even being the "hero" of the show, trying so hard to get people off the island, after so many deaths and misery... I must point out something here. Jack may also act subconsciously when he makes decisions, maybe Smokey has shown him some things, not everything that is going to happen. But does Jack know something we don't? I bet he does.

Ok. Now rate me as horribly as you may, I deserve it :) thanks for reading me!
