This theory is short but more of a reminder.
Everyone is so shocked by Daniel's death that they have seemingly forgotten about his LIFE.
We learn in this episode that Daniel first tested the "mind" travel on himself.
We also already have the knowledge that "mind travel" has side effects.
In 2007 Daniel is recruited by Widmore (and His "mother") and we learn something new:
Before Daniel jumped out of the helicopter and landed on the island (met by jack and kate in the beginning of season 4) he had severe memory issues.
This, to me, says that the memory issues were a product of testing the time machine on himself first.
SO....Does this mean that daniel has already been to the island?!
We have experienced (through Desmond) how "mind" travel works. You jump back in time through your brain (not consciousness. you remain conscious in a linear fashion, i.e. Desmond was royally confused when he was back in 96 BUT confused in the PRESENT! (the boat)
SO!....how did Daniel know what was going to happen, to try an do things differently in the first place.
THEORY:
Daniel has been to the island in his PAST (its the 70's) and so this may not be the end of Mr. Faraday after all.
