Lost - simply a marvelous past time for people twisted like us.
I have yet to see a theory posted regarding the Suicide Note of John Locke, "I wish you had believed me"
Specifically, didn't anyone else consider that when the note was partially destroyed after the crash landing of Ajira 316 it merely said, "I wish"
It can be argued that many "wishes" have come true for the Lostaways since the first season - and perhaps even before. Eko would have wished to see his brother again. Charlie wished for freedome from his habit, redemption for his dark actions, and a chance to contribute to the rescue efforts. Hurley wished for his family to be cared for. Jack wished to be the hero and save his friends. John wished his legs would function again. Rose wished for her Bernard (the only tailie left amongst the survivors). Michael - Walt. Walt - Vincent. Sun gets to have Jin's baby and Jin wanted to have a baby with his wife (there was a whole episode dedicated to how that was important to the Kwon's). Boone wanted to be a part of something important. Shannon actually wishes for the Marshall to die so there would be quiet.
Lots of examples of on-island wish fulfillment. Even a few of them being darkly fulfilled.
Ben mentions a box and that whatever you want will appear in the box. Another metaphor for wish fulfillment. Whatever the engine that provides these wishes to our Lostaways, it is impossible to ignore that somehow there are wishes being granted. Was the "I wish" suicide note a red herring or a nod to the audience much like the blast door map.
Enjoy - discuss
