OK, I read a lot of theories here and some are way too complicated. This I like and I am sold. I thought for a while that Ben has always been the good guy. Many examples - but here is one that tipped his hand...he said he never met jacob or whatever...but...he knew how to exactly call Smokie in when needed, who would have told him that except Jacob.
Ben played thorought the seasons like he always knew what was going to happen and who is important. He new he had to kill Locke. Helping Jocob was a deal he made in the temple when he was healed. We will probably see that scene.

You are absolutely right... Ben knows everything and is working with Jacob. Just like Locke's Disciple stated above, there are sooo many things that Ben has said over the years that make this ring true for me. He ALWAYS has a plan, and there is no way that he has been left in the dark.

I completely agree with this theory. It's easy to forget, but in season 3, presumably under Ben's orders, the others made that runway. A runway built specifically to save that Ajira flight. That not only shows Ben knows far more than he's letting on, but he knew about it at least three years in advance. Did someone tell him this information? "How many times do I have to tell you John, I always have a plan!" Besides, Jacob totally stood there waiting to get stabbed.

Yes, I'm continually convinced that they wouldn't just take Ben from the all knowing grand maniupulator, to the craptastic manipulated loser. I agree that he's still in control. In fact, you might take a scene like the "Invisible" ghost in the Cabin scene, and think that perhaps Ben knew that MIB would gain Locke's memories, and so he instilled Locke with the belief that Ben himself actually had no idea what he was doing. That would make for one hell of a plan between Jacob and MIB.

Not a bad theory. I don't particularly agree, but I prefer to rate theories on their sound logic rather then if I agree or not. I think you should add on to this theory with more examples of ambiguous phrases Ben has used (there are plenty).

When young Ben was so desperate to join the Others Richard told him he'd have to think about it and be very patient. Later in '92 during the Purge he told his dad something to the effect of "Do you really blame me for my mothers death? I've mourned all this time, but the difference is I've had to put up with you." Maybe you could somehow add that to the theory.

Could Ben of met Jacob when he was taken to the Temple to be healed as a child, was made to forget and then later remembers ala Desmond remembering Faraday? I'm just throwing some ideas out there, I don't believe that's the case but you could somehow creatively apply things to your theory.
