Hi all,
For my first theory (which originally was my first post on the forum), I wish to explain how I understand the Incident and the flash sideways (plus a bunch of random thoughts along the way). Actually, I’m often pretty surprised to see how the finale of season 5 seems underrated since The End and the revelation about the nature of the sideways. In advance, I would like to present my apologies for my poor grammar (I'm French and, even if I understand and speak, writing in English is always tricky for me). So, take a deep breath, here we go...
If you have a theory or a theory that you have seen on the net, then please fill out the form below or email me with the theory details and indicate that you want it posted on the site. If you have a link or photo etc please add these as well. I will then add the theory to this page which will allow others to comment on.
Please only use this for detailed theories rather than smaller thoughts and ideas. For these please use the shiny new forums where you can post directly. If your post does not appear in this section within 48 hrs please check to see if we have posted it in the forum for you.
NOTE 1: If your theory contains any spoilers or info from Promo's etc you must use the Spoiler Section of the Forum
NOTE 2: If your theory has excessive spelling and grammatical errors it will NOT be posted. Please proof-read your theory
NOTE 3: If your theory is too short or not a theory it will NOT be posted. Use the Forum for these.
NOTE 4: We no longer support video theories. Please post Video theories in the Forum.
SHORT THEORIES LESS THAN 2-3 PARAGRAPHS WILL NOT BE POSTED HERE. PLEASE USE THE FORUM FOR THESE. ONLY LARGE, LONG THEORIES WILL BE POSTED HERE FROM NOW ON

I believe MIB’s plan all along was to kill the candidates by having them detonate a Nuke back in 1977 ( Kudos Lockesdisciple) Season 6 was just like watching MIB’S plan B for the candidates.
If MIB always intended to kill the candidates in 77, then what did Jacob do to thwart this plan? What was his move? More on that later

After I watched Inception I realized that their were a lot of similarities to Lost. Especially with the season finale. I've decided to discuss both the movie and t.v. show. I am going to show how both shows/movies compare and contrast. NOTE IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN INCEPTION STOP READING NOW! I DO NOT WANT TO SPOIL THE MOVIE FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOT SEEN IT! This analysis/theory is only for people who have seen the movie.

This theory attempts to put the MiB's plan into context and explain how Jacob ended up thwarting him. But first, we need to sort out and revisit several things.
1. Time Travel
In the canon of the show, "whatever happened, happened". (But not necessarily with Desmond, however that's not important here) Everything the Losties did in the past had always happened the way it did.

In the closing moments of “The End”, we discovered that the Los Angeles-based “Sideways” reality we had been watching all season was actually the afterlife, a religiously-neutral “heaven” or purgatory outside of time in which all of our favorite characters awaited an awakening to the memories of their past lives before they could successfully move on.

I am re-watching Season 3 for the first time since The Finale. What a difference. After watching "The man behind the curtain", it is amazing to realize Ben's part on the island was pure coincidence. Back in the young and innocent days, I assumed the Island hand-picked Ben to be picked up by Horace by the side of the road, but it was all pure coincidence that Horace drove by.

I recently found this theory, and I didn't know if it has been posted here before. So i'm giving you the link, because I think it's a great read. It's a bit long, as it tries to answer what the light is, the island, the smoke monster, but the part I liked the most was the one that compares Desmond in the hatch, to Jacob on the island:
"...The hatch is a symbol of the island as a whole…. Desmond (hoping for a replacement) was trapped in the hatch pushing the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 to save the world similarly to how Jacob (hoping for a replacement) was “trapped” on the island pushing the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 (metaphorically pushing their buttons) orchestrating the events that would ultimately save the world..."

My theory is simply my own interpretation of what the island actually is if you were to explain it in it's most simple terms, and how that connects together with some of the things we witnessed in the show.

I'm sure much of this has already been discussed. I've seen it written in almost every episode/character/etc summary that Charlotte was not "awake" in the Sideways world, a fact which seems to frustrate a lot of people as she played a fairly significant role there in moving along other characters. I'd like to argue that Charlotte was, in fact, "enlightened"-- and that we saw her awakening, way back before we realized what we were actually watching. Hers was the first enlightenment we saw. Here is what I think happened:

Let me point out something that has seemed to slip by most of the Lost fans out there. This is in regards to some very important plot points that basically started the entire premise of the show. Here it goes, stop me if I'm wrong.

It seems to be the popular opinion that the Sideways world was some kind of afterlife. That it exists where all the characters are dead and meet up again. I however, don't believe this to actually be the case. I think there's plenty of examples that support both theories and that's exactly what the brilliant creators of LOST intended. To keep the discussion going for some time after the series finally ended. I'd say, mission accomplished!

Pondering LOST has lead me to a simple explanation of the relationship between this "light", space, time travel, whispers and the afterlife.
My ideas are best explained by a simple diagram:
The diagram contains the following:
Why I think Jughead created the sideways' time line by SamRNLOST

I do believe that Jughead was detonated and it was at this time that this "place you all created" was formed.
The remaining LOSTIES(and a few others) were all at the site (except for Sun,Bernard and Rose) when Jack dropped the bomb into the hatch. They were all aware of what they were trying to accomplish by using the bomb--to create an existence where they never came to the island. This is why the island does not exist in the sideways' time line.
As far as the "bad" people appearing in the sideways, the LOSTIES did not sit down and plan who was going to be in their new existence, they simply wanted to erase the time spent on the island as if had never happend.
But, these people were destined to meet other regardless if it was on the island or in the real world. With Jughead they created a "world" where the island did not exist (sunk to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean) and Oceanic flight 815 never crashed. Destiny was for all of them to meet, remember, let go and move on.

I was just re-watching Exodus, and you'll notice that the Hurley Bird screeches and makes an appearence flying away, only minutes before the Man In Black tackles Locke and tries to pull him down that hole before being saved by Jack and Kate.
The only other appearence of the Hurley Bird is in the Season 2 finale, again while Hugo, Jack and Kate trek across the Island.

Oh No! When I finally find out who the band Geronimo Jackson is, it has just put a small flaming arrow(irony) through my heart.
I dreamed of it being a hidden recording from an enigmatic band of four from the past. It is indeed a real band, but had it's 'release' around 2004-2005 known as The Donkeys(irony). The single we all know and consider the anthem for Dharma, "Dharma Lady" is actually known and listed as "Excelsior Lady". It can be heard in it's exact replication by a simple search. This band is self-described as psychedelic+self-healing(irony).
