Jack....Don't Drink That:
In an earlier post I discussed the significance of LA X Jack from the S6 premier getting one bottle of vodka from Cindy instead of two. As LA X Jack never has to worry about a massive gash from 815 crashing, he does not 'need' the second bottle to sterilize the wound. Fine. Just as Jack does not need to the second bottle, we also know he certainly does not 'need' the one bottle either. Indeed, he should avoid any bottles. And when he goes to drink from the one bottle he was given, the plane shudders with turbulence and Jack spills his drink. What a fortunate twist of fate?

Last night I was reading a book about Mummies and Pyramids to my kid and I was intrigued to find that they had a blurb about none other than Jeremy Bentham. Apparently, he was mummified.

We were given clues right away in Season 6 that the Sideways version of the characters were somehow linked with their island selves. (Cuts on Jack, and even his appendix scar). Now, as the season reaches its end, these links are becoming more apparent (thanks to Charlie and Desmond) to some of the characters. This is most noticeable when Sideways Sun arrives at the hospital and freaks out over seeing Locke.
This leads me to this theory...

I don't think we need to be told explicitly the significance of why or how he was special, and the following idea is my answer, unless he is mentioned again.
The following also helps reaffirm my own belief that Christian on the freighter etc was NOT a continuity error, and it wasn't random ghost Christian getting involved.

Ok Folks. Taking a stab at this. Looking at everything about Lost, and looking at the MIB and Jacob, I`m thinking..... What a crappy way to end a amazing show if it is as it seems. Jacob is good, MIB evil. It`s Like throwing a hotdog, down the hallway to easy and way too much space inbetween. So here`s my thought.

One of my favorite eps is Ab Aeterno. It is chock full of clues. Here's some of the things I noticed and how it might clear some things up about who is special and why and how this all came to be a reality for Jacob and MIB. BTW if someone else has posted this or something similar, I apologize. There's just too many theories to read them all anymore.

Apologies if this is an existing theory but my belief is that jacob and the M.I.B are seperate entitys but that the image that we all know of jacob is M.I.B's original form (his original physical body) M.I.B tells richard this when he is attempting to make him kill jacob, although M.I.B is telling richard a lot of lies at this moment i think there may be some truth in his statement 'he stole my body' maybe M.I.B was once a candidate who died on the island and jacob needs to keep finding candidates who must die first (make a sacrifice) in order to possess the body and carry on his work, im also thinking that M.I.B had to possess the body of another candidate in order to leave the island, and whichever one of our losties is the next candidate will have to die so jacob can live on and their soul still remains on the island as the smoke... any comments? and please excuse me first time post lol

For several seasons, the inability to give birth on the island, as well as Aaron himself have received a lot of attention, and seemed to be important to the big picture in Lost.
With only a few episodes left, it doesn't look like we'll get a lot of exposition on this. I've seen a lot of theories posted about how Jacob is Aaron, Aaron is the MIB, etc, etc.

I had a thought while watching the rerun of Ab Aeterno this week. Watching the interactions between Jacob and MIB, and listening to MIB talk about his situation on the island, it occurred to me that perhaps they do not so much represent the "good" and "evil" forces on the island, but just two people who have very different views of their role on the island.
I believe that Jacob was telling the truth about the nature of the island. It is indeed the cork keeping hell where it needs to be. That said, we've seen the smoke monster referred to as Cerberus. I did a little wikipediaing and found that Cerberus was the guard dog that guarded the gates of Hades in Greek mythology. He granted access to the underworld, but more importantly and relevantly, he also kept the contents of Hades IN Hades.

LOST: a chance to kill or capture the Locke-ness Monster!
There's a specific window of opportunity when the Locke-ness Monster will be vulnerable and WE already know about it (it will take a meeting of a couple of particular minds to put it together in the show, tho)—the outrigger canoe chase! I've been waiting to see it happen (again), from the other boat's occupants' perspective, since the season 5 time skipping stopped. Alas, we have yet to see the proper set-up for it.

In the S5 finale, we got to when Jacob touched the remaining candidates. We have been led to believe, that Jacob brought these folks to the Island based on past contact with him. But is his touch necessary to accomplish this? Smokie would have us beleive it is, but he does lie. So that could be correct, but we can't rest on it.
Consider Hugo ans Sayid. When we see Jacob touch them, both of them were in their Oceanic 6 years. Sayid is touched shortly after he is reunited with Nadia. In touching Sayid, to "ask for directions", Jacob saved Sayid's life, it seems, while Nadia was hit by the car and died. Sayid then gets recruited by Ben...and so on.

This IS a STRETCH but I think it makes sense even when considering THE MANY MANY HOLES THAT EXIST IN IT.
LINEAGE?
After watching Ab Aeterno tonight, something occurred to me. Is ONE of the major story points in LOST all about one's family lineage. Simply, several generations of war between two families? Montague's and Capuletes?
EXAMPLE: Romeo and Juliette. I believe Juliette's characters name was not an accident, but rather very much a hint.

Since the simplex concept behind the whispers was revealed, I had been skeptical that that was all there was too them. I just re-watched "Abandoned" (Season 2), and the whispers are heard by Shannon/Sayid and then Walt appears. If the whispers are those who have died on the island who cannot move on, how can the writers explain Walt being alive off island, if he was one of the whisperers?
In addition, Michael tells Hurley that he is correct in saying they are stuck on the island because of "what they did." Ummm... why is Isabella stuck there then? We clearly watched as Richard Alpert's faith was restored because Hurley was able to communicate with Isabella, but if she died off-island, and did NOTHING that we know of to have been confined to the island's grip like those who have 'sinned.' What had she done to deserve being stuck on the island like someone like Michael, who killed Libby and Anna Lucia in cold blood? It doesn't make sense.
Discuss.

Consider why Widmore tells Desmond he is important. He is the only person in the world to have experienced an enormous electromagnetic event and survive. That event was turning the failsafe key and detonating Jughead.
Think about what that means. In order for Desmond to set off the failsafe, he had to be brought to the Island in the first place and then to the Hatch.

The parallel to star wars is pertaining to episode 3 revenge of the sith and its pretty simple. Jack (representing the Jedi) is teaming up with Locke(the dark side) against a common enemy in Widmore(the separatists). While we can all assume Widmore is not working with MIB, he is far from good in my opinion.

I'm tired of seeing theories saying Desmond ran over Locke because he wanted him to have a near death experience to know about the island timeline.
Now, that may indeed happen. Locke may end up having a near death experience but not because that is what Desmond was trying to accomplish. If it does, then I would say that was the WRITER'S motivations for writing that scene. HOWEVER, you do NOT mow down someone in a wheelchair like Desmond did "hoping" he will survive and have a near death experience. It just doesn't happen. Desmond intended to KILL Locke.

Let's think about some things.
What we have to admit is that there are two different realities for Jacob and the MIB. There is what has always happened for centuries and centuries and then there is what happened when MIB found his loophole and "everything he had to go through to be there." When MIB runs his loophole he changed the way things had run for years. Let's look at his plan.

"Everyone Loves Hugo" highlighted the kind of dualism I discussed in my last Dark UFO theory post (available at: http://theoriesonlost.blogspot.com/2010/04/everything-that-rises-must-converge-red.html), specifically on whether one should try to figure LOST out, predict it, or to let it happen. On the one hand, Ben would have us speculate--"what will happen" Ben asks, when the Island is "done" with he and his companions; will their fate be the same as Illana's, RIP?

Just had a thought.
So, in the Alternate time line, Desmond is making everyone remember the original timeline.
But so what? What is the point of this? So, they remember the island and the original timeline. Big deal! Its not like they can "go back" to the island - the island is underwater in that reality. There is nothing to go back to! Unless...
The losties go to the location where the island sank, scuba dive down to the donkey wheel, and turn it.
Personally, my theory about how the island got underwater is that it was donkey wheeled there - (how else would it be underwater with buildings perfectly intact etc.) So, by turning it again perhaps they can make it appear somewhere where it is no longer underwater.
Just maybe - doing this would converge the two timelines/realities as well!

The calm before the storm. He serves a purpose there, and can handle electromytes, travel in time with his brain?
Smoke Monster can't get in when the sound barriers, or electro things are present.
Desmond is there, to keep the MIB from leaving. He cannot leave if a certin presence is on the island carrying a electro feild which surrounds the island preventing someone like the MIB to leave.
Desmond is a protector, from everything that has a magnetic pull, or electric current, which is why the island shifted through time when he left. Desmond was the stablizer to keep it intact. He's been sedated for days, who knows how long he has been sleeping on that sub or when Widmore's crew arrived.
The island has no magnetic pull without him, he know this. This is why he is calm. This will be the War, with the end is Desmond, and the MIB.Obviously evil will remain trapped. The dharma has tested all this in case it were to ever happen and Desmond is the one.

Sorry in advance for my English, it's not my first tongue. Where does one draw the line between good and evil? Imagine painting everything in your immediate surrounding black or white according to their prominent quality (i.e. 60% Good = GOOD; 41% Bad = GOOD; 12% Good= BAD, etc.). It's entirely subjective and based on your growing environment where your psychological condition is compiled. In this matter of thinking, everything is good and bad depending on who you'd ask so you can't paint anything black or white. This is also a world where everything is equally good and bad. Were no one knows "bad" because there's no "good" to compare it to. Now, on to Lost.

First time posting my own thought. My idea is that when Jacob says they are coming, he is talking about the whispers, which we have now found out are the people on the island that are not able to leave yet. The people that are coming I first thought were widmores crew. But now i seem to think that this refers to the ghosts on the island that will come together to either try to corrupt MIB or Jacob's plan. I feel that we will see a battle with the people that are the whispers. These are the people that are coming. I thought the reveal of what the whispers were was kind of weak. But if they all come back to fight for the right side then it will be totally worth it. Michael, Anna Lucia, Libby, Boone, Eko, Juliet...etc... This.would be a great battle.

So, I am new to this, and this idea may already be out there but I have a idea for the candidate.
Jacob says, The island is the cork keeping the wine trapped in the bottle. Basically keeping the evil out of the world. Therefore, everyone who has been brought to the Island has had some sort of sin (evil) past or present as we all know.

After just posting a theory, I wanted to offer an additional theory on who Jacob was referring to when he stated that "They are coming" when Ben stabbed him.
I believe Jacob was referring to ALT Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, Sun, Sayid, and Jin and possibly Desmond: due to the list that Ben gave Michael in season 2.
The list included Hurley, Jack, Sawyer, and Kate. The list did not include, but DID involve Sayid, Sun, and Jin.

Now I have no idea WHY the MIB was stuck in the cabin, just that he was.

Warning: This theory is not very in depth and more of a joke. For those who don't give a crap about Jack/Kate/Sawyer, read no further.
For those who aren't scientists and nerds or religious fanatics, and watch the show for the character development and drama, this might interest you. I've read lots of debates over who Kate will end up with- Jack or Sawyer? This triangle has been going on forever, and it's obvious it has to lead somewhere... right? Hopefully this doesn't become another loose end on Lost, but chances are it won't.

Much has been speculated about the identities of the skeletons in the cave that we were introduced to in Season One. We have had information from Jack to indicate that, given the deterioration of the clothing, that the bodies must have been in situ for 50 years and have taken this at face value but Jackis a spinal surgeon, not a forensic pathologist or anthropologist and he may be wrong (or at least off by a decade or two).
If we accept this as a valid claim then I propose that Adam and Eve are, in fact, Daniel and Charlotte. Both died during time travel episodes (on Island), we have not seen or been told what happened to their bodies and the rate od deterioration would apply. It could be that they were reunited in death in a way that we are not yet privy to but I think that it could just as much be Daniel and Charlotte as any of the other couples that have been suggested, and with a sounder rationale than Bernard and Rose for example.

I'd like to touch on a few different ideas floating around; ideas that seem to be coloring people's notions about where the show is finally going. Think of the following as the building blocks of more comprehensive theories, not a single cohesive theory in itself. Ultimately, I hope these concepts help drive people in a better direction with their theories.
The Unreliable Storyteller
We all know about the mistaken character: those whose perspective on an event or worldview taint the "truth" in a narrative. This type of storytelling is well employed in films like Rashômon and Courage Under Fire. It's dangerous; most viewers make the mistake to take a character's perspective at face value: "If they say it, it must be true."

With the recent episode and its implication that Christian left Claire money in his will, I had an interesting idea.
I think one of the contributing factors to Christian's death was Aaron.
It is easily conceivable that Christian kept track of his daughter. Even if he wasn't in direct contact with her, he probably knew the basics of her life and what was happening.

First, to identify Jacob and the MiB as good and evil is shallow at best. Based on the logic and mythos inherent to the show it makes more sense to view Jacob and the MiB as conscious manifestations of the electromagnetic energy that is innate to the Island. The entire show is saturated with principles of dueling opposites, i.e. yin/yang, black/white, and an alternate universe. If we remember back to one of the earlier Dharma videos, the chief scientist mentioned the “dark exotic energy” that is in the core of the Island. Thus, it would follow that the MiB’s wanting to go “home” actually represents the desired “release” of the exotic energy. Jacob on the other hand, represents the magnetic opposite, that which attracts! Hence, Jacob attracting and influencing people to come to the Island; for further emphasis, if one reflects back on the initial episode that showed Jacob, you should noti! ce his “spinning of yarn.” This is a folk-metaphor to exhibit the strands of life, or that of elaborate deception, that are predetermined by fate. To supplement this idea just remember the names in the cave.

Ok so by now everybody probably thought about everything possible, but i would still like to mention 2 things.
1. The loophole:
I think that there were two things keeping MIB on the island -
Jacob - his..."Boss" and the ElectrMagEnergy - his.."Job".
Some way back time ago, The MIB was forced to be the "security system" for the island under jacob "supervision". someone made him an *unseparated* part of the EME, Thus allowing him to become The Smoke monster, and protect the island whenever they need him (Like when Ben called him after keamy shot alex.)

[ A summary of some of my jargon (more details here)... LOST1 is the original show reality. LOST2 is the new, season 6, alternate reality. The snowglobe is the pocket dimension of the Island and as far as we know, all the people we've met on the Island have their origins and histories in LOST1.]

Am rewatching the wgn re-airing of Dead is Dead. During this viewing, I noticed something that never seemed significant before.
Faux Christian told Lapidus and Sun to wait for Locke @ the Barracks. Flocke took Ben over from Hydra "to be judged" by the monster.Flocke (who we didn't know was Flocke at that point)pretty much insisted that Ben make summoning Smokey a priority.
Ben opens a secret door in his old closet, crawls through a hieroglyphic covered tunnel, and arrives at a muddy/red puddle of water. Ben reaches down, pulls some sort of drain plug, and the water goes somewhere. Ben waits for Smokey (who doesn't show) until John says they'll have to go to Smokey. Ben doesn't know where to go, but of course John does. As they arrive, Ben comments that's where they took him to be healed as a kid.

So after "The Last Recruit", a very obvious answer occurred to me. Claire's scene with Jack over their father's will seemed a little random at first, but the result of this meeting is going to have a giant impact on the show. This reveals something I feel I should have figured out a long time ago, but am just now beginning to realize. The reason it was so important for Claire to raise Aaron is that time always MEANT for her to. It was her fate to raise him, and whatever timeline or reality we are in, the situation will make that so.

Right this theory isn't going to be too long, but i just wanted to point out that the MIB seems to repeat how much of an idiot John Locke was for believing he had a purpose, its almost as if he is desperate for them to believe it. Jack said in the last recruit "this guy wants us to leave so badly, maybe he's afraid what will happen if we stay" This was a key part because he's right, John Locke scared the MIB because he knew there was a bigger purpose, he was a man of faith and a possible candidate. This is exactly the same as what we are seeing about desmond, Locke asked him if he was afraid and Desmond was not, this scared MIB and it has become apparent that anything that scares him He tries to Kill another example of this would be Mr Eko. Eko was also a man of faith and he did not fear judgement The MIB thrives on the fear of others and if he senses a threat he will dispose of it by whatever means n! ecessary. So if Jack is a candidate and we've noticed that he has become a man of faith or belief in recent times, then maybe that's why he will be MIB's next biggest worry.
One final note aswell, i wouldnt entirely rule out Desmond as a candidate, think about it Charles told him he would need to make a sacrifice and what would be more of a sacrifice then to give everyone else a chance at another life where things could be different.
Please give me some feedback guys :)

When we are first introduced to Jacob and the MIB on the beach they are having a conversation about the ship they see on the horizon. The MIB asks how did they find the island. Jacob responds with you’ll have to ask them when they get here. The MIB then says I don’t have to ask you brought them here. I might be crazy but to me it sort of sounds like he said “I don’t have to ask WE brought them here. But that is neither here nor there until it is all over anyway.
The two then go into the following conversation:
MIB: They come, they fight, they destroy, they corrupt, it always ends the same.
Jacob: It only ends once anything that happens before that is just progress.

Is anyone else slightly puzzled as to why Jack is so untrusting of Flocke? I was thinking about that myself and while you can simply answer "It's because he was so set on that it was their destiny to go back and Flocke wants to leave, so naturally, he is against him." But I think that it goes deeper. I think Jack has known since his conversation with MIB that he was untrustworthy and a liar.
FLOCK is LOCKE by Randy JuJu

Very quick theory...
Flocke is Locke. The Smoke Monster / MIB is a separate entity. When Locke died, MIB / Smokey claimed him, much in the same way as Sayid or Claire have been claimed. The idea of being "claimed", I think it's more of a declaration of affiliation. Sayid joined MIB so that he could be reunited with Nadia / Shannon. Claire joined MIB so she could be reunited with Aaron. The bargains here have been apparent and have been central to the first 2/3rds of the 6th Season.
Which brings us to Locke. Locke died. Dead is dead. His body was brought back to the island and, somewhere along the line, Smokey summoned Locke (post mortem) and CLAIMED John Locke. And what was the bargain. What did John Locke want. What John Locke has always wanted. KNOWLEDGE. MIB / SMOKEY gave Locke the knowledge of the history of MIB and the Island.
Quick idea / Theory.

Okay, so bare with me here. At this point, we all assume Sayid didn't kill Desmond. Maybe it's our instinct, or maybe it's just the hope that the apparent Savior CAN'T die. The question of "what happens when someone dies" has popped up quite a bit. Whether people are referring to what happens to someone in the ALT after they die, or in the Original Time Line (OTL), it's the same curiousity. As we all know, when Juliet died in the premiere, Miles brought back her message to Sawyer, which was "it worked". Think about it. What worked? One thing that comes to mind immediately is the effort to reset things and make them normal. After all, that was the big plan. So let's assume that's what Juliet was referring to. This would mean that death in the OTL is the means of moving on to what OTL characters would consider a normal life. Couple that with the near-death experiences of Charlie (and Desmond to an exten! t) in the ALT, where they seemingly saw their life in the OTL. It kind of implies that death is the key between both timelines. And that by going through it, you move on to whichever universe you're didn't die in.

I've read a lot of theories as to what Locke's motivations are with the candidates. I'm sticking with the fact that Locke wants to kill them all at the same time, possibly on the Ajira plane.
Others have argued if Locke just needs all the candidates dead, then why did he save a few of them earlier, like Kate, Sawyer and Jack. Locke's intentions are definitely sinister, but he needs to play nice until he gets all of his eggs in one basket. Locke and Jacob both have to keep adapting to the conditions of the game they're playing.

I am wondering if there is anything that can be taken from fringe to be used to help explain what's going on in lost right now.
I realize it's a really long stretch, seeing as jj abrams is the only link, but the same sorts of ideas of pseudo/fringe physics are being used in both shows.

I won’t assume to explain what the smoke monster actually is beyond saying I believe MIB was affected by the electromagnetism beneath the island changing his form. Everything else in this theory is going towards his motives, his appearance as dead people and how he does it.
MIB cannot kill people Jacob has “touched.” But he CAN claim them if they die, but only IF THEY DIE.

After losing my faith in humanity's ability to understand metaphors and references, I've decided to write my own theory as to what the Smoke Monster is. Let me just say I cannot believe people would be so lame as to think he's 'The Devil', or he's a Martian alien or whatever. He also isn't some scientific experiment gone wrong. After watching this much of Lost, and reading so many of the theories out there, I have to explain what I believe to be the most plausible explanation- as far as Lost goes, of course.
So here it is. The Smoke Monster is the Past.

Ok, I've read so many theories stating Smokey needs to kill all the candidates off at once, that he is tricking them, that he wants them all dead etc. Maybe it's just me, but I don't see any amount of evidence pointing towards this conclusion. Flocke has been acting as if he wants the opposite of this, actually. He has been doing his best to protect our Losties... exactly for what, though, is still a mystery.
So why does Smokey have to kill them all at once? Where's the evidence for that? The only possible answer I could come up with is that Flocke needs to re-enact the crash of 815, and without Jacob to protect the survivors, they will all die like they should have realistically. Thus time course corrects itself, with Smokey as its main agent. Could happen, but it's still farfetched.

As always, apologies if something similar to this has been posted previously.
There are a lot of interesting theories going around about the identity of the smoke monster (e.g., it’s Christian Shepherd, it’s a mirror twin of Jacob, etc.). Below I outline evidence in support of the theory that the original smoke monster is Locke. The idea is that (in some universe…) Locke arrived on the island on Flight 815, had some sort of run-in with electromagnetism (hatch implosion?), and later died/started to display the properties of the smoke monster. Subsequent to that, he traveled back in time (without his original body), possibly thousands of years, and began to await his original arrival in 2004. Over the years he has assumed many forms, but his final form is his original/natural form: John Locke. As with all LOST theories, I’m not claiming that this theory as stated is undoubtedly true, but I have amassed a few interesting points of evidence that I thought I would share.

So everyone thinks that MIB was the one pretending to be Christian.
Nope. Other way around.
My belief is that Christian is the MIB.
- Why would MIB appear as Christian to people who did not know him? (Like Michael on the freighter) It's because Christian is his first form.
- Why was Christian so connected to the Losties?
He's the father of Claire and Jack. He knew Ana Lucia and also Sawyer.... something ain't right.
That's right folks. Flocke is Jack and Claire's father.

So, when we were told by Micheal in Hurley's episode that the whispers are pretty much the ghosts of people who couldn't move on, the first thing I thought was "Who all is stuck in this sort of (and I hate to use the word purgatory) purgatory state on the island?" and "Why can't they move on?"
What I think is that these ghosts are the other candidates who have died, but they can't move on because whatever is going on with Jacob and the MiB hasn't been resolved yet. I get the feeling that there is a whole bigger picture to the whole candidate idea, which we'll probably get more info about in the next episode.

"What is the point of being afraid?" These are the words Desmond tells Locke just before Locke throws him down the well in Everybody Loves Hugo.
The way the line was delivered, and the way Desmond acted throughout the episode reminded me of another iconic line from this season. "Good to see you out of those chains, Richard."
Just as that line came back in Ab Aeterno, I've got a hunch that in an upcoming episode, we may see a conversation with MIB and another familiar character where that character tells MIB exactly what Desmond said to Locke at the well. The words "What is the point of being afraid" will come back to us before the season is over, and give the scene between Desmond and Locke an entirely new meaning, and make us realize what, or who, Desmond really is.

Several theories have been put forth since LA X about the origin of the ATL. It's an epilogue, it's a prologue, it's simply the consequences of the actions of the time travelers in 1977. The last of those has become particularly popular again since Daniel and Desmond's conversation in Happily Ever After. It seems the writers are pointing us in the direction of a simple answer - the characters mucked around in the timeline and caused an alternate one to form. Easy peasy, right? Well, as easy as Lost gets, anyway.

My first ever thought into the egyptian allegorical context of Lost first came in fourth season suprisingly even thought the ideas have been introduced earlier. I have created my own theory seeing Lost as a very intricate retelling of the Egyptian Pantheon. People ask why there are so many other references beyond simply egyptian context and for that I can only say it was either to expand the range of lost in being able to include literary references or other mythological elements to hide their end game. The simplest and most direct allusion to Egyptian mythology that seems to explain the plot in a way that directly relates to Egyptian Pantheon is the smoke monster.

I've been forming this theory for a while now, and I'm surprised that no one on this site has posted a theory along the lines of what I'm thinking (if I'm wrong, feel free to demoralize me in the comments).
My theory involves the Man In Black leaving the island, the results of that act, and the idea that once people in the island universe are dead they "cross over" to the sideways universe. I know that theorists have been pounding this idea into our heads lately, but that's not all I have to say.

The fundamental difference between the two timelines is the presence of time travel. The flash sideways doesn't have it. This theory is about where and how the timeline split.
First, I want to clear up a misconception many people seem to have about whether or not Jughead was the cause of the timeline split. I apologize if this is obvious to some of you, but I've seen this mistake being made in the forums and in some of the theories. Jughead CAN still be the cause of the timeline splitting. It's just NOT the point of divergence (the moment when one timeline split into two timelines).

On another forum, I was addressing the question whether Desmond mowed Locke down to force a meeting, and "reality awareness," between Jack and Locke. Whether or not that was Desmond's intent, many agree that such a meeting will happen. I think Jack is not only going to save Locke's life, but will help him to walk again (as foreshadowed earlier in the season).

jack has to be new leader of the island he even said this season when hurley asked "why did you come back" jack said because he thought the island can change him. After jack visited the light house he seems like Jacob to me. Jacob said on beach to Richard that he didn’t want to tell him he wanted him to figure it out on his own. That what jack did unlike hurley, Jacob didn’t tell jack what to do he just realized it like Jacob wanted him to do.

Jacob-MIB/Smokey/Flocke Rules
1. Both are immortal entities. (I believed MIB and Smokey were different entities, but after what happened in this season it seems to be they are the same). This is inconsistent with Isabella-Richard-Smokey sounds scene in the Black Rock, but this is LOST!!!! If later turn out to be different entities, then is Smokey who is in the ATL as Locke and MIB just return home, whatever this means.
2. Jacob brought people to the island to prove MIB the “goodness” of the human race.
3. Jacob can’t interfere directly with the people.
4. MIB goal is to lead (not force) someone to really desire to kill Jacob, and Jacob can resist if that happened.
5. Jacob marks (touches) people as candidates for the next rule.
6. If Jacob is killed, MIB have a limited time window to escape the island leading the candidates to help him get out of the island.
7. Meanwhile Jacob is reborn as a kid and grows to be a new adult Jacob, time’s up for MIB.

I think Hawking has to be on the side of Flocke working on his behalf possibly in both timelines. I think she was given a deal similar to Sayid's, when Flocke promised he could have Nadia back. I think she was told if she worked with him that he would give her her son back and so in the ALT Daniel is alive and well, never pushed to become something he didn't want to become just allowed to become a musician. I think in exchange, Hawking has become in charge of both timelines to keep order. That's why in Flashes before your eyes, she tries to keep Desmond from changing things. That's why she's the one that tells Ben that they all need to go back to the Island including the body of John Locke and that's why she tries to keep Desmond from acting on finding Penny in Happily Ever After. She's be given a role and it is on behalf of the MIB.

The simplest explanation, in my mind, is that one or more of the people responsible for the creation of Dharma, Mr and Mrs Gerald deGroot and Alvar Hanso, were in fact Candidates prior to founding the D.I.

I think Jacob and MIB were brothers. Perhaps their mother, being crazy probably favored Jacob beyond the norm and treated her other son as an it. The family probably was of wealth and either crashed or settled on the island, and whatever incident caused the island to now regulate consciousness probably involved MIB losing his humanity. I think we will see that Jacob did not directly "do" this to MIB. Rather, MIB now blames Jacob because he just stood by and let it happen, when he probably could have stood up for his brother but didn't. Why? Because he liked the spotlight and the power that came with it, and chose to ignore the darkness growing within his brother. Maybe a resolution to the problem between them is the only way to bring harmony to everyone's existence, and that is where some or one? of our Losties to create the circumstances possible for Jacob and MIB to heal their relationship and end t! he struggle.
An aside, do you think it's possible that uttering MIB's name would make something significant happen? Trigger some big change? It is getting really unbelievable now that nobody would demand to know it directly to Flocke or at least have some conversation amongst themselves Ala' Hugo and Miles little chat about time travel and paradox's. The absence of his name will probably be some GIANT reveal in the finale. That's my guess anyway!

The Man in Black and Jacob are brothers. They are brought to THE ISLAND by the current leader of an ancient tribe on The Island (THE OTHERS). Jacob and the Man in Black join the tribe and live in THE TEMPLE. The tribe are the Guardians of The Island. The Island is a kind of purgatory for souls that can not go on to heaven or hell.

When Michael “explained” the Whispers, I was among the underwhelmed. But there is more to come.
So those who “can’t move on” -- perhaps “because of what [they] did” – are Whisperers. If this is unsatisfying, it is only because we don’t yet know how the Island can be a haven for certain animated dead in the first place, let alone why one might not (or might) move on from it.

Polar opposites are all extremes of vibration. Each part has its counterpart. Ying/Yang, Good/Evil, Faith/Science, Love/Hate, Life/Death. If enlightment is attained when trascending dual perception, could the show be a metaphor of the evolution of consciousness and the island symbolize the intangible part of life, the inner workd and battle, and the conflict between fate and free will which also needs to be trascended.

I dont know if this has been posted before, although I havent seen it; but after watching the last couple of episodes and the general acceptable that the ALT-timeline is after the island life, my theory for the end of LOST is that in the on-island timeline, the island will be destroyed at the end of the series and everyone will die. We will be left with the ALT timeline, and my theory is that this is based on reincarnation - all of the people that have died either on or off the island are born again, and the flashbacks that some of them are having of the island life are visions of their previous life.
I may have completely LOST the plot, but this is the only way I can think of to explain how all the dead losties (charlie, libby, daniel, alex, etc.) are alive again in the ALT-timeline.

The title of the novel, published after his death on the island, provides possible insight into the conflict between Jacob and MIB, especially given the fact that, in "Everybody Loves Hugo," we're shown a dark-haired version of the young boy that many assumed to be a young Jacob, but now assume to be a young MIB. Which brings me to my theory on why the two boys looked alike, and where this whole thing is going. The title of Troup's novel?

Hi everybody, i have been thinking about this for some time and i finally decided to post it...
Really sorry if someone has posted this
The Physic that claire went to see told her that if she raised the baby it would be a terrible thing, so if the plane crashes, claire raises the baby, And the Baby becomes MIB , if the plane lands she gives it up for adoption and it becomes Jacob...
The reason there are two timelines now is not because that the bomb faraday set off didnt actually go off, the death of jacob ( Good Aaron ) wasnt supposed to happen yet... Mib and Jacob somehow ( Big hole in theory ) ended up living years and years before The original was born.... The line jacob says its only progress, nothing is important until the day were aaron decides which person he will be, or which timeline will be the real one and they will continue living

After watching tuesday's episode. I have put together a theory that will raise a few eyebrows.
I believe that Jack and company will side with Locke and fight against Widmore and company. Desmond was cast into the well because MIB knows that HE IS THE CANDIDATE and is the only one who can convince everyone to realize that MIB needs to be stopped. I think that we can all conclude that since MIB already has 5 of the 6 people he needs (Jack, Hugo, Sayid, Sawyer and Kate) that would make JIN the last candidate that needs to be recruited. If Sun was truly the candidate then why would MIB go thru so much trouble to retrieve Jin?
The little boy that we see is actually MIB as a child. I believe that MIB is one of the dead people that cannot move on. He cannot move on because he died on the Island. I came to this conclusion when Michael told Hurley "I can't move on because I died here." I believe the island is a sort of Limbo, that is why dead people are able to interact with the living. If one of them ever makes it back to the living world, it world disrupt the balance of things and that is why there has to be a person to make sure that doesn't happen hence the need for "The Candidate".
Jacob brought people to the island to teach them to cherish life so that they do not linger on in death and become like MIB.

First off, thank you to all for the many great theories on this site, great job! Now, I apologize if this has been posted before, but I believe the jughead never went off, rather the event causing the flash through time for the Losties and creating the ATL was the death of Jacob, more specificly, the death of Jacob with no candidate in place.

I took a look at some of the episode titles and they all seem to foreshadow, that infact LOST might be a really big circle. For example: "The Circle of Life" or "There is no place like home" (in a circle) or "The beginning of the end" (in a circle every episode is the beginng and the end at the same time :D)
I have to admit that they already had loop-theories about the main characters before that. But once again I went through all the different transcripts for the episodes - especially season 1 - and I found multiple references to circle, iteration and loop.
So I collected all the evidence in a single video, which you can find here:

Okay, I have thought this for a couple weeks now. It just really feels like to me that either the FDW caused the alternate timeline or some other magnetic force that we don't yet know about. The losties just flashed from 1977 to 2007 without a scratch except of course Juliet who was the closest to the bomb and still only died from a fall down a hole and not from being blown up. The bomb could still be in that hole or maybe it could have been a dud and hitting it a hundred times would have no effect still. Whatever caused the ATL it's my belief that it happened way before 1977 and the losties had nothing to do with it. The losties didn't change anything which would prove Farraday's first point, that nothing could be changed. MIB could have manipulated someone way back in the 70's to make some kind of huge change with the FDW or some new way of moving the island which is maybe what I call "island ! submarine mode." Or Jacob moved the island down. I just don't think a nuclear bomb went off at all. It just doesn't seem plausible because Jack, Kate and the rest could not survive this and the flash back to their own time like bam without being physically affected.
So there it is, my first theory posted on here. Ever since like the third episode of season 6, I felt this way and it's been bugging me that they could survive a nuclear blast whilst they were like right next to it. Hmm......

Too much discussion has been placed on Good VS. Evil or Black VS. White or Jacob VS. Locke.
I feel the point of Lost is that good and evil is not easily defined. Too much emphasis is placed on black and white, when really the world is more grayscale. Jacob's actions cannot be classified as being 100% good. Flocke's actions do not seem to be 100% evil.
Desmond appears to be the symbol of love. In the end I feel that Desmond will be able to conquer all, symbolizing that love has the same power. ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE.

I've been working on like a 10-page theory for two weeks and I scrapped it all to post this, which just came to me at the end of last night's eppy.
I think the juxtaposition of Flocke "killing" Desmond by pushing him down the well on the island and Desmond "killing" Locke in the ALT involves the two of them essentially "switching places." Which may turn out to be how Desmond saves the island and sacrifices for the sake of it, not just the whole EM thing that Widmore seemed to be setting him up for.

Just thought of this, and haven't seen anything about this yet.
If the hydrogen bomb caused the alternate time line (ATL), then that would mean that in the ATL everything would be the same up until Juliet decided to hit the bomb the final time. Things could only be different post-detonation. Since the beginning of the season it has been virtually impossible to provide any solid evidence against Jughead being the cause of the new time line. However, this past episode has possibly given us an answer. The presence of Pierre Chang.
Before the bomb went off, we saw Chang's arm get smashed. This would mean that in the ATL he would presumably still need a prosthetic arm like he had in the Swan Orientation Video. But in this new time line he has both arms. He would also have knowledge of the time travelers since he met them previous to the detonation.
I used to be a solid believer that Jughead was definately the cause of the ATL, but not after seeing Chang in the last episode.

This has probably been written about, but I have an idea about what is going on here. LOST is a character driven show at the end of the day. The science fiction and mythology are just neat narrative tools to carry along a message that is rooted in characters and their relationships with each other. In the 2004 time line, Desmond has come to a realization that the primary characters are incomplete. They are incomplete because they do not have the connections they have developed in the original time line; or to be more accurate, they don't have the one meaningful connection they formed in the original time line. How he knows which characters to pursue and who their connections are, I have no freaking clue. But for whatever reason, he knows. He pushes Hurley to Libby and seems to know he has done his job when he sees them kiss. Then he runs over Locke - and I am one of what seems to be only a few who believes he is not trying to kill him! I think he is trying to get Locke to his one true connection to the island time line. That connection is not Helen - this is not a relationship he made as a direct result of the plane crash. The connection is Jack. Locke is going to end up in Jack's OR . Does Locke have a secret crush on Jack? No BUT he I believe he had a deep respect for Jack that amounted to a kind of love. I will go out on a limb and guess that Locke is also Jack's connection. Kate would be the obvious choice, but I think he was always haunted by Locke, even when he was with Kate, making their connection more powerful.

I have read a lot about how Illanas character was "cannon fodder" and a waste, and that much of her use could have been transferred to other characters.
The main thing that many are ignoring about her is the pivotal role she played in bringing Ben back into the fold, and forgiving him for his past.

The last two episodes have seen the pieces of the flashsideways falling into place. Desmond is on a course to nudge the people from 815 towards their fated lovers, and considering the directionality parallelled in the island and flash-sideways narratives, I believe I have a strong sense of where one part of the closing chapter will take us.

First time theorist, apologies to stepping on toes, yada yada yada.
Something that struck me as very important in last night's episode ("Everyone Loves Hugo") was when Hurley came upon the MiB's camp. First and foremost, Hurley did not allow MiB to speak first (a mistake that Dogen warned Sayid about earlier in the season). In addition, MiB hands Hurley his knife. This had to have significance; more than just "laying down arms" or something like that.

Hurley's leading the group and dealing with Flocke. I still insist Hurley is my candidate to be the Jacobs replacement, if there will be any substitute. As I said, Jacob let Ben kill him because he knew he was to reappear as a kid and became a man again, maybe MIB has a limited widow of time to escape the island. So maybe there will be no Jacob replacement and the candidate is maybe to be Richard replacement that will be give by Jacob the gift of no aging, or whatever other gift he ask. I think Desmond hit Locke in the ATL because he know MIB/Smokey get to leave the island in Locke body but some how, maybe Locke concscience in teh ATL may still fight MIB out of his body, or at least get Smokey powers diminished in the OTL by the ATL weakness bleeding in the OTL Flocke. I refused to believe that love was the constant, but after these last chapters it seems it really is. Otherwise, why Charlotte didn'y recognize Miles or Sawyer in the ATL if she was in the boat with Miles and also knew Sawyer? The answer, she was not in love with them. However, Faraday do recognize her, eventhough we don't know if she already met him.

Is this the gathering? Flocke said “Your were only able to come back to this island because you all did it together. If we’re going to get on that plane and leave it has to happen the same way.” So in other words Flocke needs all the candidates to get together to carry out his plans whatever they may be. If you look at it from the opposite perspective Desmond is doing the same thing. He spoke to George about getting him the manifest. To me the manifest represents the same thing that the cave wall represents on the island. Desmond is looking through it and weeding out everyone that isn’t essential to his plan. He is now in the process of trying to get everyone that is essential to his plans to see the truth about their other lives.

I've had this theory for awhile, just havn't put it all down as waiting each week to see if it still looks that way...it does.
Since Jacobs death, Hurley has adamant about what needs to be done, and most everyone is defering to him. He has grown from the likable "mascot" into a (maybe reluctant) leader.
He now has Jacobs ashes, which will come into play probably during the series finale. Hurley will be the hero. I can see Jack sacrificing himself to save the losties (ala Sawyer after the frieghter blew up). In the last 2 episodes, I'm really beginning to like Jack. He appears to have gotten off his "high-horse" and is using his common sense more, and learning to trust other people. In this sense he would make a good replacement for Richard whom I believe isn't going to last long. He would make a good protector and advisor to the leader of the new Others. But I see Hurley as the one to defeat Flocke, and replace Jacob since through his ghost-whispering with him has given him insight as to how things need to get accomplished. What do you think?
Did anyone else love it when he told Richard that he didn't have to explain anything to him?

Something I've "noticed" (sorry, Vozzek - HaHa) is that the commonality between the ALT characters that seem to have tumbled to their previous, on-island memories FIRST are those that HAVE ALREADY DIED ON THE ISLAND. This pattern that I believe I've seen holds true with Charlie and now Libby, both of whom are dead on the island and have felt extremely motivated / driven to enlighten Desmond and Hurley who as we know, have gone on to "awaken" or "enlighten" the other Losties.

Okay, so we all know Des hit Locke with his car, but why? That's the question on all of our minds right now, and I've got some theories as to why.
1. Locke does not love anyone that would draw him to the island world, and therefore cannot be drawn to the island world, so Desmond wanted to eliminate him. Probably the least complicated and least likely scenario, but still.
2. When Desmond was pushed down the well, he had another "experience" like when he was electromagnetized by Widmore. He passed out in the island timeline and his consciousness was fully blasted into the ALT timeline and he wanted revenge on Locke. This theory is also pretty unlikely, because Desmond wasn't exposed to any electromagnetism (that we know of).

Did anyone else notice the little boy in last night's episode seems to be getting older? He is definitely older than he was the last time we saw him AND that was really the first time that we saw him (as far as I can remember). He's also starting to look startlingly familiar.
My theory is that since Smokey cannot kill Jacob, the little boy is Jacob. What if it just started his clock again? i.e. dies and is reborn. The idea would be that in the time that it took for Jacob to re-age to a level that he could maintain Smokey on the island, he would find a way to get off. The candidates were required to keep him there during this time.
He is not Aaron, in my opinion because there is already an Aaron in both timelines (or so I assume since Claire had not given birth yet in the Alt Universe). So it must either be someone that we haven't met yet or someone that has been killed in one of the two timelines.

So as we just saw, ALT Locke is about to remember, and with 5 episodes still left, that's not a throwaway scene.
I've been thinking for sometime that his memory will in some way impact Flocke. I think all of their memories will impact that Main Timeline in some manner, but with Locke it will be different and that's why he's always been important.
He hasn't just been thrown away this season, and they haven't had MIB impersonate him, specifically to keep Terry O'Quin on the show.

Short theory, but relevant IMO…
The ALT is shaping up to be a far more preferable world for our Losties…major bonus being they are all ALIVE. I see that as a good thing, I don’t know about you? So, that said, I don’t think the alt timeline is “real” as Charlie and to an extent Eloise insinuated. I’m not into Physics, I won’t attempt to even explain the existence of a fake reality, so yeah, not going there…BUT I think it might be possible, through some Physics magic to make the ALT real, and I think surfacing the island might have something to do with it.

Last week I created a post in which I explain how in the Sideways Universe we see only Blacks, Whites, Greys, Reds, Purples. During "Happily Ever After" we start seeing greens introduced. You can read more of that post here: http://theoriesonlost.blogspot.com/2010/04/use-of-color-in-sideways-world-by-alex.html
I created this new post to explain that now in "Everybody Loves Hugo" we are now seeing yellows as well as greens in the Sideways Universe. This is most obvious in the "Mr. Cluck's" scenes. But it is also seen in the rec room at the mental hospital, Libby's psychologist's office walls, and even in Libby's hair. It is also seen on the beach as well.

This is a small theory regarding one specific moment of last night's episode...Desmond running over our most unlucky John Locke. Ouch!
At first I thought....dang Des, that was cold! Then I immediately began trying to figure out reasons why he may want to eliminate ALT-Locke. I thought, well maybe it has to do with MIB, and thwarting his transition to the ALt, or maybe for some reason Locke needs to die in the ALT since he is dead on the island...but none of those ideas made any sense at all and weren't jiving with the theories I am forming about the overall big picture.

Couple things to remember when trying to think about the island time, and the sideways time. First, the island is in 2007 timeframe and the sideways time is October of 2004. I think a lot of people are forgetting that these are not happening at the same time. So, sometimes you need to think, what was happening on the island during this time in 2004.

Two things didn't sit well with me in last night's episode, Everybody Loves Hugo.
1) why michael told hurley to stop them from blowing up the plane...
2) why Michael showed Hurley where Locke was.
I mean, if dead Michael really cared about keeping his 815 buddies safe, then why is he having Hurley sabotage the destruction of the plane, and leading them right into the hands of MIB?

Purgatory is a spiritual realm, but the island is physical.
I'm of the opinion, at least for now, that the souls on the island merely can't escape the Snow Globe in the same way a living being can't escape it.
That makes the island a bad place to die in that your soul can't leave, but that is something altogether different than purgatory.
Another point is that as Michael stated, the souls are those who died on the island and haven't been able to leave, and so it's certainly not purgatory in the sense that just any wayward soul can go there. Your body still has to have been brought to the island.
But Isabella you say? How did she appear to Richard? Well that's easy!!!! Actually I have no idea, maybe you can help on that one. :-)

I think I know whats going on in the alt. Now, it initially appeared that love was what triggered the losties to begin to recall their island lives with the exception of those that have died on the island. I don't think that it is merely love. I think that certain moments in the losties' lives must be recreated in order for those memories to begin to come back.

Christian, the MIB, and John Locke have remained the most guarded and mysterious of secrets in the show thus far. They seem to revolve around each other and people cannot seem to place who falls where and who works for who. To give some clarity I'll posit a theory on the progression of the show that although I do not understand the end play I see the moves. Christian Shepherd is the only character brought to the island dead on Oceanic 815. Following this Christian showed up to Jack as a hallucination, apparition, or is in fact possessed by the smoke monster. Or at least these have been the conjectures. But what if in fact Christian is enlightened by the fact that he has died off island and is brought back by Jack to the Island. Christian seemed to know what he was doing while he sat in the bar with Sawyer talking about his possibility of fixing all this if he would make a single phone call.

I'm starting to come to the conclusion that Jacob and MiB are on the lower end of the totem pole. I feel that they have for some reason been chosen as the decider's of Earth's fate. It's unclear whether they are in fact demi-gods or aliens or what, but it is my theory that the human race is facing extermination unless Jacob and MiB feel that they can be redeemed. It's similar to the Day the Earth Stood Still if there is in fact an alien connection.

There is an ongoing cosmic conflict between the supreme god, Ahura Mazda, and an evil and malign spirt called Angra Mainyu. This is just like Jacob and MIB and the motifs of light and dark (white and black).

His journey from being a man of science to becoming a man of faith has been one of the most important and fulfilling character arcs on the show, and it still has a very important role to play. Jack still has to keep the faith for what is coming.

I've been thinking about how the MIB cannot kill Jacob and possibly vice-versa. Let's think for a moment that they are inherently the same person, possibly split into two identities, possibly because of time traveling side effects. Same person, just two different bodies and minds. Say that one rule is you cannot kill yourself and/or the island won't let you kill yourself no matter how hard you try. This explains why MIB couldn't kill Jacob.
Now here's the next part. Maybe MIB is trapped because Jacob is older than him in the sense that Jacob has time traveled to a later period of time on the island. If we know Jacob has been living in a later time period on the island, that means that MIB cannot leave the island until the last moment Jacob has existed in the future. For example, say they both were born in 1800, but Jacob time traveled to 2010 and lived there for an extended period of time. That means that if MIB wanted to kill Jacob, he would have to wait until 2010, because you cannot kill someone in 2009 if its a fact they existed in 2010.
Now that Jacob is dead, MIB's future is open, assuming Jacob hadn't traveled much further into the future. If they are two sides of the same coin, and Jacob is always living in the future, it makes sense why the death of Jacob would free MIB.

Jack Has Already Fulfilled His Destiny
Jack’s path during the past 5 seasons was to find his way from being a man of science to being a man of faith. Being a natural born leader, his mission was to get everyone to follow him on this path. He doesn’t know it yet, but Mission accomplished.

I know Darlton have said that the sideways universe isn't an alternate timeline in the traditional sense, but I'm going to refer to it like that because it's easier :p
***
In "Happily Ever After", it appeared that Eloise was aware of the alternate timeline and didn't want Desmond to find out about it (at least not yet). How does she know? I think the answer lies in the exact nature of the alternate timeline.
Jacob really dead? by Jason

Is Jacob really dead? In a way I think yes. We all know from previous episodes, both MIB and Dogen both say when they ask Sayid and Richard to kill Jacob and MIB respectively, don't let him speak to you, if they do, it'll be too late.
As we saw when Jacob was killed, he had a lengthy conversation with Ben before the dagger was plunged into his heart.
Does this not apply to Jacob? I don't think so. But we never really saw another time where the dagger was driven into his chest except when Ben killed him. Richard was taken down by Jacob before he could. The MIB on the other hand, spoke to Sayid before he thrust the dagger into his heart, and good old smokey just stood there.
Are there different rules that apply to both MIB and Jacob? I think so. But I also think it was Jacob's destiny/plan to die then and there. It was all apart of his plan to thwart MIB in the long haul. When Sayid stabbed MIB, I think it wasn't MIB's time to die.

This isn't so much a theory as it is just an observation for which I am sure to be flamed.
Ever since Zoe has been introduced in Lost there has been a never-ending tirade of loathing and animosity toward her character. While I understand this attitude on a certain level, I do believe a great deal of it is unwarranted. Please let me explain.

Here is a link to important quotes from Philip Dick. A writer of a fiction book that was actually featured in the show. His theories were in various journals and some important ones were compiled. There are Christian in nature and the writers probably didn't use that part of his interpretations, but the gist of his theory is gnostic (a belief of mystical enlightment as a Higher Power). This concept is further enforced when Jacob is reading All That Rises Must Converge which is based on a gnostic concept from Phenomenon of Man by Telhaird de Chardin.
http://www.tekgnostics.com/PDK.HTM
His theories explain the nature of the struggle between Jacob and MIB, how the Losties fit in, and how it may end. The island is a wormhole between the universes where there is no real space/time and is stabilized by exotic matter (real quantum science) created by the high electromagnetic forces). It is the "teaching machine" when Universe 1 is split.

I think there is something wrong with thinking that the MIB is evil. Let's take a look at the information given so far.
Jacob is surprised that the MIB tried to kill him.
Jacob is trying to show that mankind is worth saving.
Jacob is willing to risk the entire planet trying to show the MIB that there is good in people.

Okay..
I POSTED THIS ONCE, BUT HVAE CLEANED IT UP A LITTLE AND TRIED TO FLESH IT OUT MORE.
I HOPE IT NOW MAKES MORE SENSE AND IS NOT SO MIND SPINNING...
I think I have figured it out.
We have two distinct timelines that have all occurred because of the events of Juliette blowing up the BOMB in 1977.
Now the events cause a chain reaction that not only changes time forward, but changes time backward….
So, I will try to explain that the two timelines are a product of the JUGHEAD bomb in 1977.

I sat back a few days ago and thought about the ending to lost, and I think I have figured it out through a little research and just looking at basic facts. The key idea in this theory is the fact that the creators of the show have known what the very last scene of lost was from even before season one. I also have heard that jack knows as well, although this is not critical to my theory, but it ties in nice:) So first things first I would like to explore the logistics behind something like that.

I believe the Smoke Monster (aka MIB, Smokie, Flocke etc) and Jacob are one. It's not an original or novel idea, but one I agree with. LOST, like any mythology, has presented them to us as two opposing forces: Black and White; Good and Evil; Light and Dark and so on. LOST has been quite explicit with this imagery, as we all know.

DISCLAIMER: I’m not Catholic, so I apologize for any mistakes related to that.
--SHORT ANSWER--
Richard is a Catholic who – in order to atone for murdering the doctor (at the beginning of Ab "Aeterno") – modeled The Others after the Catholic Church, the official language of which is Latin.

People have highlighted the fact that we don't see the mother of David Sheppard (Jack's son) in the episode Lighthouse. Some people just assumed it was Sarah (Jack's hot ex-wife from the original Lost timeline)...but then, we dont see any pictures, and there is absolutely no mention of her. We can interpret that Jack is divorced / the two parents dont live together, because David is slightly estranged from Jack and only sees him a few times a month. and he clearly hates hanging out with his dad.
Green and Violet. Do the colors mean anything? by Jason Eddy

I have been trying to come up with a theory on some of the colors that they keep showing us. If you remember when Locke was taking a bath in the episode the Subsitute he was looking at two differnt swatches for him and Helens wedding. One of them was sort of a green or olive color and the other was a purple or violet color. He first picked the green one but then changed his mind after Helen seemed to like the more purple colored one. I also noticed something in last weeks episode Happily Ever After. Zoe was looking at a computer screen(during the Desmond experiment) and one side of the screen had a three-D model with green on one side and purple on the other. It was almost like the two different realitys that we are seeeing were being represented by the two different colors on the computer screen. Another thing that I keep noticing is that peoples shirts seem to be changing colors. The start of this season we se! e Flocke in a greenish olive colored shirt that he has worn most of the show. A few episode ago when Flocke shows up in Suns garden his shirt now looks purple and she was also wearing a purple shirt underneath a white shirt. Why would the smoke monster need to change his shirt?? and is that even possible?? I know that this is just some ideas and questions more than a theory but I would love to have some imput on wether or not anyone else has noticed all of the people that seem to be wearing the color purple here recently on the show. Especially in sun and jins recent episode. Maybe it is showing which reality they are in right now?? Or possibly who`s side they will end up on?? Maybe even which ones will die!! I noticed Kate is always wearing a gray or ash colored shirt. Maybe she is the hidden candidate?? Please help me!!! Jason

[A summary of some of my jargon... LOST1 is the original show reality. LOST2 is the new, season 6, alternate reality. The snowglobe is the pocket dimension of the Island and as far as we know, they all have their origins and histories in LOST1. Sort of a follow-up on an earlier theoryonlost.]

Remember in The Incident and LAX? Juliet was down in the pit. She tried to set off the bomb and all the Losties traveled in time. Then in LAX we saw Juliet again as she was dying. She was awake in the pit and Sawyer eventually got to her. They then had this conversation:
Sawyer:Don't worry.
Juliet:We can get coffee some time.
Sawyer:I gotta get you out of here.
Juliet:We can go Dutch.

Thank you for the posts. I have posted it again with some improvement and the paragraph.
My theory is related to Daniel’s statements on and about the island and on Desmond experiences: I assume that the island is travelling in time because it is moving faster than light.
At the end of this long argomentation about the physics of the island, I will explain why, as someone else does, I think that Mrs. Hawking works with the MIB, to make sure that only the alternate reality remains, and the original timeline cheases to exist.

This theory is a guess at who Adam and Eve are and how they got there. Probably been hit on before but here it is and props to anyone who wrote it before me.
We've heard that in order to be the leader of the Others you must kill your father. We've also heard that Locke or MIB had a crazy mother. We also know that many people on the island have had problems with either their father or mother.

In the flash sideways you would have to be blind to not have picked up on all the characters looking into mirrors and looking as though the remember something suddenly. In Memento the greatest part of the movie comes through these lines:
"I have to believe in a world outside my own mind. I have to believe that my actions still have meaning, even if I can't remember them. I have to believe that when my eyes are closed, the world's still there. Do I believe the world's still there? Is it still out there? . . . Yeah. We all need mirrors to remind ourselves who we are. I'm no different."
He is saying that he can't remember what it is that he's done, but even though it's not in his memory it is still important. This is perhaps a philosophy that inspired the writers to take the path which they have with the story, they like mixing the literal with the metaphorical when it comes to references.

Come to think about this:
Current flashes:
-Daniel [dead in OR] with Charlotte (He saw her from some distance in the Museum)
-Charlie [dead in OR] with Claire (He might have seen a little from her)
-Desmond with Penny [Not dead, but he's special and was submitted to the Electromagnetic Room]

Now I understand that this sounds completely absurd, but just here me out. As we all know, Jacob is refusing to let the man in black from leaving the island because if he leaves then the evil that the island has concealed within it would be released.

Okay so I just thought of this while responding to another post. I don't remember reading this anywhere, but if I did I apologize.
Why would Jacob only communicate with his people through lists and notes? Why was he weaving a tapestry in the foot of the statue? Simple, Smokey can't read.

This is not a “theory about everything,” just one small slice at it pertains to Ben.
Three related quotes:
“How many times do I have to tell you, John, I always have a plan.”
A long con: Make the other person think that what you want them to do is their idea.
“Why don’t you believe me?” “Because you’re speaking.”
