LOST Theories - DarkUFO

The End Game of Lost by William Gullo

A friend of mine once asked me to explain Lost to him... If you watch Lost religiously, like I do, you probably just chuckled to yourself...

Where do you begin?. Well, you could reel of the main characters and their backgrounds, you could talk about the plane crash, a smoke monster, the others, the DHARMA Initiative, maybe try to explain about a man in black, explain "the incident", talk about constants and variables, some lottery numbers, discuss time travel, and if you really wanted to get detailed you could throw polar bears in the mix.

After I collected my thoughts I replied simply... "It's a metaphor for mankind and life in general"... Allow me to elaborate.

The island is a platform where people, since the beginning of man, have been tested by the powers of good and evil. Jacob (good) believes that man can choose to live life in peace and tranquility, acceptance, and free from fear all while maintaining free will. The Man in Black (evil) believes that all men are corruptible by nature and will never be able to live in peace because they are easily manipulated... Lost examnies the theory "Where there is good there is evil and vice verse", and that every individual is capable of both.

The 815 survivors were certainty not the first and may not even be the last inhabitants of the island. There was another form of good and evil before Jacob and the MIB took over as their representatives, and every group of people brought to the island has played out exactly the way we see it through the 815 survivors... until now...

It's impossible to guess where this incredible story is going to take us in it's final hours. It's weaved a winding, dizzying path since the first season that has always hidden it's end objective. It's now obvious that one thing is inevitably set to occur before the story closes. Jack will have to do something he's been chosen to do by destiny, and he will do it. Jack, through all of his failures as leader, through his hasty escape from the island that left many behind, and through his general lack in faith has again and again been tested and broken to the point of succumbing to the darkness...

but there has always been good in jack... and we see it more then ever as his journey comes to a close. Jack has clearly chosen the path of Jacob, especially after witnessing first hand the evil contained within the man in black after sinking the sub that claimed the lives of Jin, Sun, and Sayid. Someone must stay and take the place of Jacob, and that someone is Jack...

Locke believed in the island... he knew there was a reason for everyone to be there... He followed the islands demands, wanted to believe in jacob, but has ultimately succumb to the darkness. Locke had been broken... broken by his wild goose chasing of the island mysteries that were never revealed to him, broken by the constant betrayals of Ben, and broken by the relationship of his father. Evil (the MIB) was able to take over his dead spirit because he had given up on hope and all that was good about man...

Whatever Happened, Happened... This is true, and alt-world crew is tied to the fates of the island reality. There is no alt reality because of the H-bomb, but because of the end game of Jack's destiny... Jack on his own free will will elect to sacrifice himself becoming Jacob (the power of good) thus destroying evil and the need for the island sinking it to the ground.

Everyone's Life is significantly better in the alt-world. Jack is a man of faith who now has the father son relationship he always wanted. Locke is alive, and found inner peace within himself, Sun and Jin are alive and are expecting their daughter. Hurley is still rich, but with great luck and finally is able to share his love with Libby (a great story arch that signifies the finding of ones soul-mate) And Desmond who has not only penny but also her fathers acceptance...

The island will not grant everyone their second chance... So is the way of life... Kate was a criminal for first degree murder. While her intentions noble it was still an act of evil that the island will not forgive... Sayid, while likable, could never escape his past on the island as well as off and in his alt time line thus becoming an easy target for evil's darkness. Sayid should be remembered for using his last remaining free will to save his friends thus preventing evil from ending mankind as we know it.

If evil were to be allowed to leave the island it would ruin mankind.. and that is simply never going to happen as long as good prevails in man, and it always will. But in order for Good to prevail there needs to be sacrifice. Jack has always been the chosen candidate to make a dramatic decision... one that he will no longer run away from...
