LOST Theories - DarkUFO

*Reread this so Im sure there are no spoilers or FUTURE episode titles mentioned. This is all based on stuff that we've all seen. This is all conjecture.

What if Desmond wasn't wrong when MIB asked him,

MIB: Do you know who I am?
DESMOND: Of course. You’re John Locke.

What if the real John Locke died in the Oceanic 815 plane crash from Season 1? Although not likely, MIB could have inhabited Locke's body from Day 1. What if he did this because this could very well have been the Long Con that we first heard of since that Sawyer-centric episode? A ploy designed to build a reputation and gain everyone's trust so that he could essentially convince each and every one of them to kill themselves.

Since Season 1, we've seen that he can be hurt, but he has never really died. Actually when we saw John Locke die off-island at the hands of Benjamin Linus we witnessed what could be the final phase of manipulative operation.

We've theorized that he actually (and quite easily) faked his death in order for the Oceanic 6, and especially Ben, to believe that he had come back to life. Recall Ben's quote from earlier this season after he learned Locke was alive in episode 12, season 5 "Dead is dead":

BEN: Sun, I had no idea it would happen. I've seen this Island do miraculous things. I've seen it heal the sick, but never once has it done anything like this. Dead is dead. You don't get to come back from that, not even here. So the fact that John Locke is walking around this Island... scares the living hell out of me.

By faking his death and making Ben believe he was somehow resurrected, he turned a valuable pawn to his cause and made his long con all the more believable. He finally got what he wanted which was to kill Jacob and now, he needs to kill everyone else on the island to get back "home."

Oh and by the way, where is home? Maybe MIB just wants to die and that cannot happen while everybody else is on the island.

Finally, with regards to the end of the show, and after having seen "The Candidate" we believe that the Flash-Sideways are a narrative tool that has enabled Darlton to show us the present and the future simultaneously. Jack will be the one to cause the "event" on-island that ultimately submerges it underwater like we saw in the first episode and trigger the events that we now call the Flash-Sideways.

Hopefully this was an enjoyable theory to think about. Of course, this is LOST so we're probably completely wrong. Maybe. Namaste.
