LOST Theories - DarkUFO

The Numbers Mathematical Significance by Jared

I know this is redundant, but throughout the history of the show we have seen basically 2 equal sides fighting it out against one another. The latest example of this would be in the episode "The Lighthouse" when Hurley and Miles are playing tic-tac-toe and they seem to tie every single time!

This tie in tic-tac-toe basically resembles the entire show and how I believe it will end - seemingly, somehow a tie between Jacob and MIB, yet everything works out for the people who chose to follow their respective leader. I believe that each one is both good and evil in their own way, throw in fate v. free will. There is no right or wrong. It is up to each of us as viewers to decide who is good and who is bad, and I think it will be left up to the viewers to argue this once the series is complete!! However, the latest episode "Sundown" takes these ties to a new level if we start to analyze the NUMBERS!

4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 - just numbers? Or do they actually have mathematical significance? Well, lets take a look.

8 = Reyes
23 = Shephard

8 + 23 = 31 -- they appear to be aligning on Jacob's side

Sawyer = 15
Sayid = 16

15 + 16 = 31 -- they appear to have already aligned on MIB's side.

4 - Locke = Dead

31 to 31 - a tie, yet again!

Kwon is 42 - there are two Kwons, Sun and Jin.

Based on this, I further believe that somehow each one (Sun & Jin) will align on each side (sadly) each having the mathematical significance of 21! Throw it into the equation and what do we get?

Tie, Yet Again!

What does this mean for Kate - #51 ? I have no idea, but it seems like these numbers could possibly represent the value of each one of the candidates and have mathematical significance to try and tip the scale between each side in different directions, but as we have seen, it always seems to end up in a tie.
