MIB works for Jacob by adrastea

We know that Jacob brings people to the island. We know that MIB wants to go home. We also know that MIB hates Jacob, and was looking for a loophole to kill him for a very long time. Perhaps this hatred is because it was Jacob that brought the MIB, against his will, to the island in the first place.

If MIB could find a loophole to kill Jacob, then perhaps he could be released and go home.

Did Jacob bring the MIB to the island to utilize his skills? Did Jacob realize that he couldnt control the MIB? They both have conflicting ideals about fate vs. free will. Perhaps the MIB doesnt believe in freewill because he has none (he is controlled by Jacob). This is also referenced after he kills Jacob and says to Richard, "Its good to see you out of your chains." With Jacob dead, Richard is no longer his loyal servant to do his bidding (regardless if that was what Richard wanted).

The MIB's entire history has been surrounded by death and killings. He appears in the dark territory as a smoke monster, and carries people off, usually underground, and kills them. He appears in the form of people who have already died, and specifically those who have died and not yet have been buried. Maybe that is just a coincidence though.

The Temple Others refer to MIB/smoke monster as "Cerberus." Cerberus was the watch dog of Hades, which allowed people in and out of the gates to hell. Knowing this, if you think about the temple, it was built to house the smoke monster in the basement area. It was referred to as the security system quite a few times. And perhaps Jacob brought MIB to the island, unwillingly, to be the security system for the temple, or island.

When the Temple Others learn of Jacobs death, they anticipate the smoke monster will come. They set up defenses. Ash ash ash everywhere. Do they not want the smoke monster to come and kill them? Or do they not want the smoke monster to have access into the temple? Theres a big difference here!

Often we have seen Christian Shepard appear, and we have assumed that it is the MIB taking his form, (just as he appeared as Ekos brother, and Alex). Christian has also said that he speaks for Jacob. If this is the case, then it must be that MIB works for Jacob.

Think about the sound you hear when the smoke monster is approaching... the sound of locusts?

Revelation 9, 1-6 says: The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss. And out of the smoke locusts came down upon the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth. They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads. They were not given power to kill them, but only to torture them for five months. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes a man. During those days men will seek death, but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.

I will say it. My theory, based on the evidence is that Jacob brought the MIB to the island, against his will. He has been the security system for the island or temple before in the past, and sometimes still does... He also fills the role as judgement. He wants to go home, which is where ever he came from before Jacob brought him here.
