Black Ash vs White Ash by Muku

In "The Substitute", we saw Ilana crying inside the foot about her friends who were killed. She finds out from Ben that Flocke slammed them all silly and in typical Benjamin Linus deceitful fashion, he says that Flocke killed Jacob too. Ilana then proceeds to ask where the body is and Ben points her to the ash in the fire pit.

Side note - The killing Jacob part leads me to believe that the reason Ilana thinks MIB is bound to Locke's body, is because she believes MIB killed Jacob directly (breaking the rules).

If the following has been brought up before, my bad...

You will notice that the ash in the fire pit is white and not black (dark), like what we're all used to. The ash, which was scooped up by Ilana in to a small bag obviously belonged to Jacob was not the same colored ash we have seen everywhere else.

I'm going to go out on a limb and and say that MIB and Jacob have died in other time lines on the island and their ashes have been preserved: MIB's to be used against him and Jacob's securely hidden away. Why? Maybe it has something to do with the essence of two or more instances of the same body not being able to cross literal paths or co-mingle?

It would be cool to see the white ash used (knowingly or unknowingly) to find out who Jacob may have claimed or has become.
