My theory is that Jack is the Jesus figure on the Island and not John Locke. In the first episode where Jack opens his eyes in the Jungle he is flat on his back clenching and unclenching his hands (crucifiction), when the camera pans out there are two pieces of twig near him laid out like a cross, he is surrounded by a circle of bamboo (crown of thorns) and also has a wound in his side that Kate stitches up later. On the latest LOST last supper pictures Jack is standing in front of a piece of pipe with some other piece of wood in the background intersecting it, looking like he is stood in front of a cross.
