Hi all. Was just skimming over Shawn's theory about the Island being a spaceship -- about a race of humanoid-type aliens from the "future". I like this. I'm a huge sci-fi fan, and while I'm not sure these wonderful ideas are REALLY what's happening, it's still fun to think about them. I like the idea about the Frozen Chamber being the cockpit of the ship, the Wheel being the controls. In addition to this, there was also a theory floating around a while ago that had to do with Jack; his destiny; that by the end of the show, he would be chosen to "pilot" the ship, take off into space, carrying the selected, enlightened few(the Losties) who had passed their respective "tests"(had been judged by Smokie) to join a higher race and start over.

There are subtle clues here and there that make it fun to ponder such a thing. For instance, season 1; episode 1; Jack and Kate talk by a fire -- it's Jack's assessment of how they crashed. Kate asks; "How do you know all that?" to which Jack replies: "I took a couple of flying lessons... It wasn't for me." Jack always deffied his destiny; he never wanted to be leader. Yet clearly he was supposed to. Flying wasn't for him... well... maybe it was!

Anyway, this was not what I wanted to come on here and talk about. In fact, I don't really have much of a theory to offer. But just one tiny idea to consider if you're going down the aliens from the "future" route. Now, we all know that Darlton are big Star Wars fans, and they've taken alot of inspiration from the films and injected it into the show -- father issues for example, reflecting Luke and Vadar. What I'm trying to say is, we know the writer's are taking inspiration from all kinds of literature and pop culture etc, and we're all constantly referring to it to try and figure out if it reveals anything about what's going on. And it wouldn't be entirely rediculous to think that the planned ending of the show; the big twist(coz we all know one's coming-- we can feel it...) might be pulled from one of these sources of literature/pop culture, like Stephen King's the Stand, Atlantis etc. BUT... if it is Star Wars, then consider these simple words:

"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..."

"A LONG TIME AGO..."

In nearly every theory I've read that speculates on the big picture, the big answer to what's going on when considering an advanced race, they always seem to come from the future. Because the Frozen Donkey Wheel seems to speak to some kind of higher technology, everyone assumes that whoever it was built by MUST be from the future. Why? Consider the Universe. One civilizations highly advanced FUTURE, might be our ancient PAST. And vice versa.

I still believe, as do we all, that Egypt plays a serious role in the show. That it's in part about an ancient Egyptian civilization. It always strikes me as ironic. Maybe "Ancient" Eqypt is not so ancient. But in fact, just the opposite. Take the pyramids. One of the seven wonders of the world. We've all heard the crazy theories about some higher inteligent race of aliens building them. Heck, maybe Eqyptians were aliens themselves, who knows. But think of this; maybe the Egyptians were not the beginnings of our own race, but rather, the highest evolutionary grade of an extra-terrestrial species sent here to help populate our planet.

I know this one tiny contribution is turning into a long, rambling mess. But just some things to consider.

And my final contribution. I'm a huge fan of The X-Files, and although the phrasing of the following exact quote escapes me, I believe The Cigarette Smoking Man once said in an episode that, "what you call God... is only extra-terrestrial". The reason I bring this up is that Shawn, who's theory I'm basing this all on, mentioned that it seems crazy to think that there's anything MYSTICAL in the show, and yet, the show is very religious. Jacob himself appears to be a mystical figure. Well what if Shawn is right? What if what appears to be mystical, magic to us, is just simply a higher form of technology(Smoke Monster)?

Anyway, that's it from me. Just something to think about Shawn. Might help you out with your theory.

OK, so I'm an avid reader of this site, and have posted a few theories in the past.
LOST is my favorite show of all time, but not because it's good tv, but because it's
a giant 6 year META PUZZEL, similar to the JJ issuse of WIRED mag, which drove me
crazy for an easy 2 weeks.

anyway, down to business.

Just to reiterate, this does not come entirely from my brain, and i have read similar theries on this site before, but everyones been so obsessed with whh vs alt, that YES, we seemed to have forgotten, that is not what the show is about, and every season, we get a NEW MAJOR SET PIECE.

I believe that set piece to be none other than THE TEMPLE.

Now, before I really open this up, I like two types of clues to figure out whats really happening on this show.

Now 1) (real world)
we need to realize that, yes, this is a tv show and is WRITTEN by real people. Season 3 was kind of all over the place for a while there and near the middle of producing that third season the writers had a big talk and soon after ANNOUNCED THE ENDING TO THE SERIES. which means, that they had to have come up with the shows final mythology.

And 2) clues from episodes (LOST world)
It was in the end of this third season that we first here THE TEMPLE brought up. (Ben draws a map while in the others camp in order to meet up with Jack to try and stop him from turning off the radio tower. (also notice, the symbol for THE TEMPLE is a DHARMA LOGO!)

POINT BEING...In season 3 they came up with the final mythology for the series, including THE TEMPLE, which they slyly introduced at the end of Seas 3 to get us thinking about it. So right at the beggining of their endgame they gave us our first clue of whats to come.
People seem to think the temple will be something ancient, similar to the statue or the smoke monsters layer underneath the temple walls. But it can't be that simple. where's the surprise there? There has to be a more jolting reveal. I am calling it now: THE TEMPLE IS NOT ANCIENT. not sure what it is exactly, but its not old. it has a DHARMA LOGO. Maybe from the future. Ben did say at the temple walls that THE TEMPLE was a half mile away or so so that no one could see it. why cant anyone see it? BECAUSE IT ISNT ANYTHING ANYONE COULD COMPREHEND.


So down to ALIENS (or maybe just very advanced people from the future [or maybe a more advanced evolution of man from an alternative universe, which may be the case since it seems from the comic con videos the producers are teasing us with alternative versions of the past, WHY NOT THE FUTURE AS WELL? ] ).

There are two pockets of intense Electro Magnetic fields on the island.

How the hell could they explain that while saying that Jacob is something mystical?

They can't.

Maybe the reason why the Island moves through space and time IS because its a god damn space ship.

A giant, ancient ship, unlike anything we've ever seen in film or television (because hey, neither is LOST).

It would explain the frozen donkey wheel, which is just the engine room. Turn this wheel, which looks similar to a pirate ship steering wheel on its side.

Now, i'm not going to say much more, because, like most of us, the writers have turned the show on its head, and I have no idea whats next. I wont even try to bore you guys with a fake version of what i think happened or is happening, instead I like to look at the clues weve been given and merely speculate.

First of all, excuse my English because it’s not my natural language.

I believe a lot of mysteries wouldn’t be explained after the end of the series (i.e. The theory of why an H-Bomb would cause you to time travel), but there’s no way, the producers are going to end this show without explaining 3 fundamental things:

1. We know the island can travel in time and space….but why????, just because???....no
2. We know some people have special powers… but why????, just because???....no
3. Jacob and MIB are CEOs of the island… but why????, just because???....no

If doesn’t matter if we prefer WHH or ALT, The ONLY way that all 3 point above could be explain are clear to me that we are talking about aliens here (Yeah I know the producers say No aliens in the show, but they say the same about time travel…and dud!!! – and don’t forget the Mysteries of The Universe - The Dharma Initiative photos of aliens on ABC), and the “island” it’s a kind of Special ship (No Space Ship), it could move trough time and space, it can remember things, it can heal people, etc. There’s no way an “ordinary” island could move (In space and in time) because somebody move a donkey wheel, we can assume the aliens have the knowledge to heal, travel in time, and “posses” a body… Jacob and MIB represent one or two aliens civilizations, they have been send to earth to make a diagnostic of the human race, Jacob believe that time would bring “evolution” to men MIB believes not, MIB wants to end “their report” and believe that to do s! o he have to end with Jacob by killing him trough a loophole…

the real nature of Jacob and MIB, we already know they are enemies (No friends said: I want to kill you), they referrers as humans as “they” meaning they are NO humans and we can assume that both have a least the same “powers”, Jacob believe mankind its in progress the other one believes the other way, they can see the future or at least travel in time (Jacob knows when Locke was going to fall) and Jacob attract the humans to the island so he can prove his point.
If Jacob and MIB are future Aaron and Charlie, it doesn’t make any sense why they have that ability, and if they are the first habitants of the island we don’t get that explain either…if their demi gods…well, I believe the producers would have a hard way to keep everybody happy that way, and it would be to simple… if it would be a game between gods then the interaction with the mere humans would be insignificant to the whole history and then WHH.

To get this trough your throat you have to understand that the series its unfolding at the same time the characters are understanding what it’s happening (Time travel, demi-gods?, faith, etc), that means it could be no surprise to assume that time travel its not going to be the stop for science fiction fact in this series….Kaboom!

PD: I don’t like the alien idea either…but let’s be objective…Any comments?

Just rewatching The Life And Death Of Jeremy Bentham and when Widmore says your parents had a sense of humour when they named you I looked up Jeremy Bentham and found this quote from his writings:

"Nature has placed mankind under the governance of two sovereign masters, pain and pleasure. It is for them alone to point out what we ought to do, as well as to determine what we shall do. On the one hand the standard of right and wrong, on the other the chain of causes and effects, are fastened to their throne. They govern us in all we do, in all we say, in all we think..."

Kind of sounds like the man in black and Jacob to me, just wondering what other people think?

Maybe it is not like we think it is..

Maybe when the island move it moves to another dimention...

So it is not really course correction but instead a reality merger...

The whispers are echo from all dimentions as if the island was a hub for all dimention...

Each time they change dimention something new happens...

It always end the same, they change dimention...

But it is always a bit different, it could be seen as progress...

And with reality dimention merger it may look to us like it is a debate between WHH and the ATL...

But it is not it is a merging process...

So at the end, all dimention are regrouped as one and only until that, progress is made...

I will write this as simple as it is possible.

DI food drops is one of the whole pile of evidence I have.
And it will be the only evidence I will use here since I got tired of repeating the same damn thing for the last 5 months.

How is it possible that the DI food drops fall from sky since the whole DI is purged 15 (if not earlier??) years ago?
How is it possible that the DI food drops fall from the sky if there is no trace of an airplane, chopper or any other flying device?

It is possible in the same matter as its possible to enter the island only in certain periods of time and under certain circumstances.
It is clear that the island has its own time and it is surrounded with wormholes thus the certain windows which opens in certain periods of time. And ONLY if you pass through that window you are able to enter the island.

If we have two realities..it is only natural that on some places on Earth, on some spots there is a thin line between them that can be manipulated and be used as a passage between these two realities.
One of them is the island. So, imagine now if the island is special :) and those wormholes and windows that surrounds the island are not just outside the island, surrounding it but also within the island.
Jacobs cabin. It exists it doesn't exist. It exists it doesn't exist. But the ash is always there. Ring any bells. The cabin was burned down by Ilana in 2008. So maybe I can use the different term. Time. Not reality. Blending of time. The cabin exist in 2004 and it is pretty damaged. In 2008 there is no more cabin. Puf gone...So its not just Hurley who sees this separate reality or different period of time it is all of them who saw the field with ash around it with no damn cabin. Cabin cannot move. It is a building. It is attached to the ground by foundation. :)
The island provides these lets call them portals. Portals that are not visible to an eye..
So lets back to DI food drops. In a certain moment in time and space they entered 2004 and dropped. Oceanic survivors found them. On the exact same spot where they found the food drop there somewhere there is an error in fabric of time or reality and it allows something or someone to enter or pass from one to another like this food drop did.
So this is what I mean when I say I dont believe in WH,H. I believe there are multiple universes and realities all around us in real life but we are to limitless to see them. And in this show on this island they are able to coexist and blend at certain points.
Thus C.S.Lewis, Alice in Wonderland, Narnia, White Rabbit, Looking Glass, Richard Alpert, Hawking (the time is like a board and you can walk all over it, the island is like a board and you can walk from one reality to another from one period of time to another and in case of time only if it is allowed by FDW), Des making the comment about being stuck in a snow globe, Daniel referring to a strange angle of light, the tubes that dont lead anywhere..

What we saw was another reality trying to enter to the real one..glimpses...and there is a war coming.

And if Eko and John are alive in this other reality I am on their side. :)

I believe that “Jacobs” cabin moving locations is a hint to the fact that things CAN be changed and probably have been throughout the entire series.

The only reason I can think for the Cabin changing locations is if it was built in two or more different locations depending on certain events in the past. For example suppose on the first iteration the Cabin was built in location A. Our Losties go backing time, or someone else does, and does something that changes the location that Horus decides to build it. Now suppose that the losties are outside of the loop in the present day on the Island, as the loop continues to occur in the past the cabin changes locations in the future where they are. (I’m not sure if this entirely makes sense?)

Anyway the fact that the cabin can appear in different locations suggest to me that things in the past CAN be changed as the location of the cabin is constantly changing.

Now a big question remains. How does anyone know what location it will be in at any specific time? Are some of the characters minds altered with each change so they always know where to find it? I’m drawing a blank on trying to explain that but I still think the movement of the Cabin indicates a change or changes in he past.

A side thought. When did the cabin start moving and how regularly does it move? We know that it moved at least twice in the couple of months that the Losties were first on the island yet if it is the same cabin the Rose and Bernard were living in it presumably didn’t move for 3 years while they were there! Does this mean it didn’t start moving until after 1977? Did Jug head cause this phenomenon? Appologies, I’ve ended up asking more questions than proposing answers!

Season 2 finale Live Together, Die Alone Desmond finds out that the day he didn't push the button was the same day Flight 815 crashed on the island.

"What day did you come here?"
"60, 65 days"
"No the date, what was the date?"
"It was september 22nd!"
"I think i crashed your plane."

Desmond said i THINK i crashed your plane. But did we ever get 100% proof that it was his fault. We all just assumed that Desmond was the reason for the crash. But what if...What if it wasn't his fault?

Jack believes that it is his destiny to prevent the incident from ever happening and therefore preventing their plane from crashing. Good for jack, but there is one problem with your theory jack if The magnet wasn't the reason your plane crashed. Well if it wasn't Desmond then what? It was Jacob. Sounds far fetched, but he is the one who selected each and everyone of them. He is the one that chose the 48 survivors to survive the crash. Jacob brought the plane to the island weather through the button or not...

So if jughead truly did detonate then jacks theory would work...partly.... by detonating jughead they did indeed change the future. But not the way they thought since the button never had anything to do with the plane crashing in the first place. It's the happy medium between WHH and Erasing the first 5 seasons. Jughead changed the future but it still didn't change the fact that the survivors ended up on the island since the swan station magnet wasn't the reason Flight 815 crashed.


A little proof to back my theory. Episode 9 Namaste of Season 5 Dharmaville in 07 has registration signs and is all still Dharmatized. Also in Episode 1 of Season 3 Tale of Two Cities, the others experience none of the effects witnessed in Live Together, Die Alone after locke breaks the computer and the button isn't pushed. Lastly, we all know Darlton won't erase the first 5 seasons, but we also know that not all the 77 survivors can be dead. So there has to be a happy medium.

Summary

-Desmond didn't crash Flight 815
-Jacob brought the survivors to the island
-Jughead did detonate
-The future did change, but not entirely
-Flight 815 still crashes but things are much different in present time (Dharmaville)

With the Comic Con videos it would seem that we might see an alternate or parallel reality on Lost in its final season. Some would argue the videos are no proof of where the story is going, but I think comments that there will be a different way to tell the story rather than flashbacks or flash forwards gives this idea some steam. We can go back and forth, or side to side. . .

Originally I was in the WHH camp simply because they don’t have much time to tie in an ALT story line. But now if they are going to keep the reality we have been watching and ALSO give us a new one, well that’s a whole new ballgame.

Here’s my latest theory: what if the Losties (and Locke) wake up not in LA (actually if they show goes back that far in a reset shouldn’t they be landing in Fiji?) but in 2007/2008 when Kate, Jack, Sayid and Hurley left. (Maybe Sawyer, Juliet, Miles, and Jin are in 2004.) They are suddenly faced with the reality that would have been without the plane crash and more importantly without the island influencing them. Because they have the memories (due to Jacob’s touch) they seek each other out and learn the fate of the others who crashed with them.

Slowly Jack and company will realize that they were better for their time on the island and accept the island reality as their destiny. They will then try to get back and synch the two realities together not long after the point in time where Jacob was killed.

It would be interesting if the ones who died also died in this new reality at the same time because they were “supposed to”.
Now with my theory explained, here are a few speculations as to where our characters would be if the plane had not crashed. If you want to believe that I am extremely clever and have figured this all out, you may not want to read ahead as the following could be considered spoilers. If, like me, you think my theory will be blown out of the water during the first five minutes of the premiere, read on and simply enjoy the possibilities.

Jack-guilt over his father’s death leads him to drink more and abuse drugs.
Kate-still a fugitive (the marshal dies in another car accident and she manages to escape as she always does).
Sun-finds another way to interfere with her father’s business.
Hurley-in the mental institute after giving up all his money. His best friend is a real man named Dave.
Sayid-Found Nadia and married her but she died. (I think we could have actually seen in the season 5 finale this alternate reality where they were celebrating their anniversary which couldn’t have happened in the original reality because she died within 10 months of Sayid’s return). He is drafted again to work with the US Military in Iraq. Although not an assassin, he is doing work he is not proud of.

In fact, I think that the O6 will have lives similar to what they found themselves living after they left the island in the other reality which will make it hard for them at first to figure out what happened.

Claire-will be living comfortably with Aaron in LA after finding out that Christian Shepard left her a large sum of money in his will. (She will essentially replace Kate.)
Sawyer-the con man, now devastated over the loss of Juliet finds himself in jail.
Jin-Alone as Sun left him years ago. They have no children.
Juliet-Her sister died of cancer and she remains trapped in the shadow of her ex-husband at their research facility.
Miles-a con man/medium making money any where he can.
Locke-depressed and suicidal as he is still paralyzed. Let’s say for the fun of it that only Locke doesn’t remember (because he was dead) and Jack has to convince him that all the events of seasons 1-5 actually happened. Then Jack would have to tell Locke that it’s his destiny to join him in his quest!

Desmond/Penny-I can’t quite decide what would happen to them. If my theory about the post-island being similar then Desmond won that race around the world. He then claims his true love and they are living happily. (Naaa. That can’t be. Why would he go to the island for the big finale?) Second guess-Desmond still ended up on the island and is stuck there like Rousseau. Penny continues to search for him and is easy to recruit for the back to the island mission.
Frank-was pilot of 815 and continues to be the coolest pilot ever.
Walt-living with grandmother after Michael dumps him there. Michael was eventually killed in a construction explosion.
Daniel-dead of a brain aneurism. (though we made need him to explain it all.)
Charlie-dead of a drug overdose.
Rose-dead from cancer.
Boone/Shannon-After finally losing his temper at Shannon’s lovers, Boone kills her and then himself.
Nikki/Paulo-arrested upon their arrival in LA for murder and sentenced to life in prison in Australia. They are the subjects of a special investigative TV show Exposé Exposed!
Anyone else have any ideas as to what would have happened to the others? Is Ben still on the island? Is Richard still young? Does Mr. Eko have a new stick?

I read in the comments on one of the recent theories posted here, someone (sorry for not having checked for due credit) doubting of Richard Alpert's loyalty to Jacob.

That made me think about Flocke telling Jacob something like "You have no idea what I had to go through" prior to Ben stabbing him, I realized that Ben has been just another poor pupet in MIB's hands... for a very long time, and Richard was the man that carried MIB's orders for using Ben.

It was Richard that took young dying Ben to the healing underworld, then molded him to become the new Other's leader. A new leader that wasn't supposed to be, defying Widmore and taking a new direction by later making the Purge (with Richard's full cooperation) and moving the Others to Dharmaville. Why didn't Richard lived there too? To keep himself tuned with Jacob.

My idea is that the underworld is MIB's (darker) grounds while Jacob rules at much lighter surroundings.

So Richard took Ben to be saved by MIB, guided Ben to become the leader that unknowingly was not fulfilling Jacobs will - thus making Jacob ignore Ben. So all along Ben was really acting under MIB's orders (via Richard) while thinking he was following Jacob's. That's why babies became impossible to deliver on island, as Jacob punished them because of the road the Others were taking.

At the end of season 5, after a lifetime of being ignored by is "boss", we finally get an angry Ben stabbing Jacob.

Richard is the double-agent that allowed MIB to undermine Jacob's plans. His motivation? Probably be allowed to get old and die, just like any normal human being; or to stop the real bad guy, Jacob.

The writers of Lost have proven to be masters of dropping small clues and hints throughout the series, many far too subtle to detect. While watching Season 5 not too long ago, a particular scene struck (forgive the pun), an interesting chord with me.

It involves Charlie's Drive Shaft ring that he left in Aaron's crib in Season 3, later to be discovered by Sun in Season 5. On the surface, of course, this D.S. stands for Drive Shaft; however, I have wondered for some time if it is a well-placed clue by the writers...

Charlie is a musician. We've seen his musical know-how displayed in Season 3 when he keyed in the numerical melody of "Good Vibrations" into the jamming mechanism in the Looking Glass station. Now, D.S. in musical notation stands for Dal Segno. (Italian for "from the sign") This abbreviation D.S. is placed on sheet music as a navigator of sorts, directing the musician to repeat a particular passage marked by "the sign." The sign could be anywhere in the piece of music, even the beginning.

When Sun found this "D.S.", was this a clue that we are about to repeat a portion of a particular set of events from a particular time? Is it a clue of Charlie's return? Is it the desperation of a musician and avid Lost fan trying valiantly to come up with a decent theory? (This last one, I can tell you is very true.)

At any rate, just wanted to share.

Jacob says that "it only ends once, everything else is just progress". What is progress exactly? Well if you remember Faraday talking about time, he describes it as a flow. The future and the past don't matter. What matters is right now. Our choices depict the future. Small changes won't necessarily affect anything, but one big event can change the future.

Now I don't buy into the whole time loops just happen. There has to be a starting point and if there is a starting point, there has to be a end point. The end that Jacob refers to is this end point. I believe that when time travel occurs, it begets more time travel. It's like a ball of snow going down a hill. The more it rolls down the hill, the more momentum it gathers. I think the little things that are affecting the characters in each loop causes something small to change in the next loop. I believe that this is the first loop that included the oceanic 6(or 4) to be in 1977 because Desmond comes to Faraday's Mom altering the events of that 2007. Before that loop, Daniel Faraday would go to the camp alone and get killed by his mother. This in turn would cause her to make him become a scientist to give him another chance at changing the past. He wasn't a variable, he was a constant. To ensure that there would be another chance for all of this to happen again. Jack, Sayid, K! ate, and Hurley are the variables. Because of them, the bomb went off, thus, causing the next iteration to occur leading to the end that Jacob is waiting for.

And the reason I think that we were shown the 2008 timeline with Flocke was to show us what the Adversary wanted to happen, as well as what happened to Ben, Sun, Frank, and Locke's body. Seeing as that timeline would now be over.

This is less of a theory and more of a prediction (and my first one, so be kind). In The Little Prince, Sawyer, Juliet and the rest of the group flashed to some point in the future (probably 2008). They found their old camp disheveled and found an Ajira Airways water bottle and a canoe.

They took the outrigger and were pursued by an unidentifiable group in another boat. That group began shooting at them and Juliet picked up a rifle and shot back, apparently hitting someone. My prediction is that Juliet ended up shooting and killing the future version of herself.

We know that Juliet will only be on the show for some portion of time early in Season 6. But if she really did set off the bomb at the end of "The Incident", its logical that she would share in the same fate as the rest of the '77 Losties. In other words, if they flashed forward to 2008, she would be there. Or if there was some kind of a reset she would reset too (maybe not because Jacob didn't touch her when she was a little girl - wait that sounded weird).

However, other interviews have indicated that Sawyer has lost Juliet and will revert to his old ways. Why would that happen if the same thing happened to both Juliet and Sawyer when the bomb went off? (If your answer is she'll die because she was so badly injured when she fell down the well, Sayid has a bullet in his gut at the same time. Does that mean he'll die too?)

Anyway, like I said, more of a prediction than a theory. I realize there's not a whole lot of evidence. I just thought it would be a really cool concept (your past self unknowingly killing your future self). Of course this begs the question why future Juliet would be shooting at the other boat, causing past Juliet to start shooting back. Not enough information at this point.

A have a theory regarding, Ilana and her crew perhaps branding Frank "a candidate".
I think in the big picture,what if, as of the start of season 6, the jughead was detonated successfully, but due to the sheer amount of electromagnetism going against it, the effects were "unpredictable".

This causing all the losties around the area of the swan site, to be exposed to the magnetism. (much like desmond when he in turn, eventually activates the fail safe key.)

Therefore, what happened to Des, happens to the rest. The consciousness travels back to before 815. (again like Des)

Richard Alpert also stated last season, that he saw all the losties die. What if by this he means, simply, the 815's were as good as dead when there consciouness travelled back off the island.There bodys left much like young bens was once being shot by Sayid.
This being said, he takes the losties into the temple, as he did with Ben. What happens there, who knows.
But what i think could be plausible, is that somehow some way, the losties have to find themselves a constant, when there consciouness has travelled off the island.

What if this very constant...was Frank Lapidus. The pilot that was SUPPOSED TO FLY 815...but never did.
Perhaps Jacob visited him, touched him must like he did the losties and prevented him from ever getting on 815. let alone piloting it.

Could this then link in with why the Pilot was killed in Episode 1 of the first series. Because it was supposed to be Frank.
Say smokey was in fact Flocke, Jacobs arch enemy, killing off people as he goes, trying to win the war between himself and his nemesis.

I appreciate some of these ideas have already been theorized, but link it in with the idea that Frank could be the constant for all of the survivors, and you might just have yourself an explanation for "the candidate"

One theory is that the numbers are spatial co-ordinates which could be the actual location in time and space when the universe is set to end as predicted by the Valenzetti Equation. The mission of Dharma is to try to change it perhaps by pushing it further into the future and changing events in the time line. This is the theory I’m persuing here.

If the island hops about in time in relation to off island then essentially it’s path could be 2000, 1950, 1845, 1999, 1927, 1970… depending on where the island goes next. Each time the island stays in that time period for a few days perhaps. I would guess it could be the same amount of time each time but that may also vary. At first glance it might seem random but there must be a pattern if the Lamppost can predict where it will be at a certain point in time. This could be it’s natural state to be jumping about in time. The Lamppost was used to track it’s next appearance and predicting it’s next spatial co-ordinates. They consist of 6 digits just like the numbers inputted into the Swan.

The island naturally wants to jump from one time period and location to another but Dharma had been keeping it in one place since 1970s, one place in location that is but not in time. Hawking told us it was constantly moving and that's why no one came to rescue our Losties. Before they came Dharma had tethered it to stop it moving on it's seemingly random path and harnessed it so that they could move it and create time travel experiments. So they were actually the ones moving it when the Losties landed on it in time rather than space. I think they were only altering the time co-ordinates rather than the co-ordinates used for longitude and latitude. I do think Dharma are still active are working behind the scenes in the experiment which has developed much more than when it was started in the 70’s. At the start they would move the island back a few minutes to create 2 bunnies for a short while. I am saying that in the bunny experiment they sent the island back in time not th! e bunny, by 20 minutes As a result of the experiment the island would be out of time by 20 minutes and it would be out of phase with normal time. They would then be able to move it back again to be back in sync with off island time.

Of course their experiments would have continued onto human subjects, like in the Swan for example. Another theory that the Swan is like a Faraday's cage, which is said to, “dissipate any electric currents generated from the external electromagnetic fields”. This could prevent the EM from penetrating the Swan to stop the inside of the Swan from moving in time. The island time travels but the people in the Swan stay in the same time period as off island. Having the blast doors down would also mean that the people inside wouldn't accidentally encounter their "other selves" the ones who were outside of the hatch out of time. Say they would move the island to spatial grid 4,6,13,16,21,40 for arguments’ sake and that moves it back 1 day in time. The first and fourth numbers were longitude and latitude in the Lamppost and the others are unknown but must relate to points in time. They would of course need to move the island back again and to do this they would need to reset t! he island to the same spatial co-ordinates that they left from 4,8,15,16,23,42. This was what was supposed to happen in the experiment but it didn’t.

They drilled into the pocket of EM and this would have been catastrophic, this would have ended the world, but they covered it in concrete. This was only a temporary fix though. The EM would leak out the first time Dharma conducted an experiment causing the incident which was the end of the universe. However the people in the Swan at the time were OK in a time in the past. This team consisted of several Dharma personnel which probably included MIB, MIW, Christian, Radzinsky, and maybe Chang and Ilana, maybe more. At some point they realised what had happened and started trying to fix the problem. They have managed to delay the end of the world and are still manipulating the time line to stop the end of the world that they actually started in the first place. As long as they don’t affect WHH to stop the Swan sending them back in time or the numbers being inputted they can carry on experimenting.

To try to fix their mistakes they started more experiments and Radzinsky was the one who was introducing the changes. He goes back in time and poses as his other self. In that way he can build more Dharma stations to do different experiments to help them in their task. The rest of them tried to go back further and further into our history to try to solve the problem by manipulating the course of events which leads Dharma destroying existence as a result of their experiments. They went back so far to 1845 when they must have arranged for the ship to come to the island. They then used the people who came on the boat in their experiments and they became known as the Others. They have of course been added to and probably lost as well over the years.

The DST (Dharma Swan Team) at first would not have realised that they were stuck in a loop but at some point they realised that someone needed to enter the numbers to regularly reset the island's spatial co-ordinates, every 108 minutes. This somehow allows them to remember what they did last time in the loop so that they could continue their work from where they left off each time. That’s why they set up the Pearl, so that they could record what they’d done in the previous loops. Until they worked out how to input the numbers they had people recording everything that they did. It may have taken them years to set this up by rereading a load of notes made by observers in the Pearl each time they reset in time. Of course it may have taken years to learn that inputting the numbers was the way to do it. Putting into action, however would be easy the next time the loop got to 1980 they asked Chang to film an orientation video for people enlisted to do the job. After they’d s! et up the numbers there was no need for the Pearl any more. They then arranged for someone else to be enlisted who wouldn’t know what was going on, eg Inman, to input the numbers for them. They would have invented some excuse for him not to go outside like a disease, hence the quarantine hoax. If they did go outside he might realise that he was actually out of time…

I think the DST discovered about special people, like Walt, Hurley, Miles who can see the overlaps in time may be as a result of some past exposure to EM and so their focus changed. They decided to experiment again and invented the Temple where certain people have been changed so that they don’t reset like everyone else does when the island goes back in time. This must have been at least Richard but maybe several of the Others. Obviously not Juliet because she went skipping though time with our Losties when the wheel was off it’s axis. We know Ben was templed due to his comments about when they last celebrated Birthdays and of course that we did see him go into the Temple, but which iteration of the loop this was who knows. I think we have been seeing a mixture of scenes from different iteration and that explains why things don’t fit. It did seem a lot of the time that Ben was winging it so he definitely wasn’t given all the info he needed while he was follow Jacob�€! ™s orders. In fact the DST set themselves up to be God-like and so the Others worshiped them thinking that they were achieving something else entirely.

So to the FDW. This allows someone to time travel like Des did into his own consciousness instead of in person like the DST did. It exposes a person to a concentrated amount of EM and allows them to leave the island. Something to do with the idea that two bodies cannot occupy the same space and time. The idea was that if they could become their past selves then maybe they could make a difference. I have a feeling that most of them gave up except for the MIB and the MIW and went off island into themselves in the past and started to self destruct and caused their kids all sorts of problems. Christian obviously became a drunk and eventually got his son and daughter pulled into this messy time travel experiment which had gone drastically wrong. I think Jacob was trying to get them involved to try to get the team back together and the MIB is trying to stop the whole thing. Radzinsky must have felt to blame and thought it was all pointless and he shot himself unless it was Inman w! ho did it discovering what Radzinsky had done.

The failsafe blew up the Swan and ended the world again but this time the Losties got caught up in the blast and they went back in time as well as the DST. In the meanwhile I think the Black Smoke is the differences between all these loops and like Monika was saying the Losties cannot interpret what it is that they are actually seeing. It’s a cross over of time discrepancies trying to course correct in a way. Also people are trapped in the loops as being dead or undead depending on which loop they were killed in and it’s all gone a bit loopy.

The Losties have been caught in the loop for a while now with Des blowing the failsafe. They don’t keep their memories like the DST. Except the FDW is the next level of the battle. Jacob wants to send Locke back in time with information from the future to see if he can make a difference. I think he will gain future knowledge from the point he fell out of the window and Jacob touched him. He also has Kate, Jack, Hurley and Sayid lined up to have a go at turning the wheel. Frank is also a possible candidate according to Ilana.

So what could these people have done differently which will affect the MIB? It would seem that the MIB’s idea is to manipulate the players involved in the game. Since we’ve seen his manipulation of Ben I think that he has been looking for someone to kill Jacob and he discovered Ben’s jealousy and played on it. The people who are coming are not the people the MIB thinks they are for this time they are ready for the counter strike. They are different people than they were and they have changed things since last time MIB saw them in the loop. I think that it’s the decisions that we have already seen our Losties make in the flashbacks that could make the difference in the end. Sun was going to leave Jin except she didn’t she ended up on the island. Her meeting with Widmore makes more sense to me now too. I think this is all due to Jacob’s touch and giving them future knowledge. Actually come to think of it I bet Sun is the main swerve ball in the scenario. Of course ! Hurley has decided to take something with him in the guitar case to help him since he was touched after he left the island.

So that’s my theory of what’s happened to date. I am missing a big bit and that when Ben turned the wheel it did something different. I think when I get a chance to look into this further I may change my mind a bit about the end of Lost. As to theory for season 6 the war must be between the people who want to end the world and those who wish to continue to eek out an existence of sorts. Unfortunately I think the MIB will win and the end of Lost will be the white screen although I hope our Losties gain higher consciousness at the same time. A series to watch again and again until all the little seemingly inconsistent elements are explained. I’m so glad I’ve bought all the box sets up till now!

Read a great theory about Hurley seeing into a second reality and it got me thinking. This is where it’s all heading, and has been heading all along.

For instance, Walt warning Locke about not going down the hatch. Walt can do the same as Hurley, only he isn’t as aware of it. Walt appearing as visions is through loopholes from the other reality. Desmond has also managed to cross over into both due to what happened at the hatch.

There are two main realities, one for Esau (black) and one for Jacob (white). Esau is trying to gain control over both realities for his purpose, and Jacob is doing the same. Perhaps they are both evil, who knows yet? Whatever it is, Jacob is trying to thread the two realities into one. (He is tried doing this many times but has failed in previous cycles). My best guess is Esau wants to keep others off the Island and Jacob welcomes them.

The other reality, which Esau controls, is where the Lostee’s survive, having never crashed on the Island. However since Walt, Desmond and Hurley exist in both realities, or have at least some significance in both they will attempt to return the Lostee’s to the Island.

Only the ones Jacob has touched will be able to survive the threading into the second reality, as maybe they are the only ones he deems deserving. This means that the real Locke will return, and perhaps will fight Flocke near the end of season 6.

The cabin also exists in both realities, the ash allows it to go between the two. When the ash was broken it stopped travelling. Since Hurley can see in both realities he managed to make it disappear, or switch realities. He has some control over it, as does Walt and Desmond but apart from Desmond neither are really aware of it. When Hurley forced it to disappear he switched back into the main reality. This is quite similar to how the tower works in the Dark Tower books, of which the lost writers are massive fans of.

Locke’s speech about there is one light, one dark when talking about backgammon could also describe the two realities. One is dark, Esau, and one is light, Jacob. This would also make sense for how they dress.

I don't know if anyone has talked about it so don't kill me if you've already heard it... :D

The 5th season's plot is divided in two timelines: 1977 and 2008.

I've seen that in 2008 timeline the barracks are completely different as we have seen in the previous seasons. In season 2-3-4 we can see that barracks are used by the others and after the purge they've removed all the "Dharma" references. My question is:

Why in 2008 timeline the barracks have all "Dharma" signs an photos (remember those that Christian that shows Sun and Lapidus) if, after the purge, the others have removed all of them (except for the stations)?

I think that the losties in 1977 have already changed the future and the 2008 timeline is based on what happened in the past after Jack and co. came back.

My answer will be this theory.

Jacob: You need a pen son?
James: Yeah, thanks
Jacob: Here you go you can keep it. I am very sorry about your mother and father James.

So instead of talking to the boy, not giving him a pen...but giving him a choice of not ever writing that letter, he gave him the pen, and the choice (in a manipulative way, Ben style) of writing a letter and taking the path of misery that will one day lead him to the island....to work on Jacobs behalf against MIB.
The other situation was with Katie. Instead of letting her suffer the consequences he let her go unpunished. And instead of showing her the difference between right and wrong he showed her that she can do whatever she wants and get unpunished. So yes he gave her a choice. Choice to turn into a criminal. How is that a choice? If he already knew what she is about to become, how is that a choice?
Sayid. Poor Sayid. He gave him a choice. Of becoming a murderer for Ben. He set him on the path to the island again. That was his only agenda. To put them all back to the path of the island. That is not a choice if you ask me. He shouldve let them all be. That would be a choice. Locke. Hm. This one is tricky. Because at first I thought he just touched him and nothing more. Telling him he is sorry. But why would he be sorry. Why wouldnt he try to stop Cooper if he is such a good person? No. He said he is sorry because he gave him his life back and provided him a false miracle. He knew who locke is and how sad sad little man he is and what miserable life he lived yet none of these things could provoke a little bit humanity within him. NO. He instead continue prolonging Lockes suffering by giving him his life back and his ability to walk away. Thats why he was sorry for.
Sun and Jin. Well the only thing he said: Dont take your love for granted. So Sun didnt leave Jin from the airport. She stood by his side. She came back for him. It lead to series of events such as Sayid becoming "Hostile" in the eyes of DI and eventually shooting Ben who then became a tool in Jacobs hands...
Hurley? He needed Hurley back on the island. And jack? I cannot figure that one out. "It just needed a little push"
The most important argument I have is Richard Alpert.
The man who is immortal.
"Jacob made me this way"
And he was pissed about it. Who wouldnt be?
Was that a choice? Jacob gave him a choice? No.
Jacob is playing a game for his amusement only...to prove MIB wrong. To prove him wrong???? Thats why he messes up with people lives?? How is that a good thing? Making list, killing people, taking children, how is that a good thing?

On the other hand I just have my gut...and its telling me that Bram and Ilana are not the good guys. And they are working for Jacob. Ben is not a good guy and he is working for Jacob. Richard has no other option and seemed frustrated with Jacob especially when he said: Tell him I said hi...
I think Richard is secretly working with MIB and we will see this in season 6. Richard is more than just an adviser who is being manipulated around.

SO, after the finale of season 5 I have no idea if I understood certain things correctly. For example the part where he is talking about the experiments...

When was that?
Last thing I saw before the Incident was the construction site...the Swan wasnt built yet and I havent seen any experiment or anything happening inside of the Swan station just construction site. It left me wonder...was there more than one incident? Or is this title just misguidance? Or this time the incident happened a wee bit different? Or am I wrong and misinterpreted this whole scenario wrong? Is this yet another parallel universe because everything else we saw happened exactly the same. Chang ordered evacuation of the island, Daniel talked to Charlotte, Chang lost his arm, the incident happened prior to 1980 (copyright) etc. The only thing that didnt happen was the experiments inside the Swan because Swan wasnt finished yet.
Another thing, how can communication with outside world via computer lead to another incident? Since we know the computer didnt exist prior to the incident. It was constructed after the incident to prevent another incident???
So how can something that doesnt exist cause the same thing which in fact is suppose to prevent for ever happening? Hm..(if you get my point :))
Something else is bothering me, why would Radzinsky drew a blast door map of the other DI stations with all those question marks and in Latin if he was the one in charge of all these stations? I understood he was the "architect", the mastermind behind these stations. The map looked like a drawing of a person who had no information about other stations...the person who is trying to figure out where and what is going on.

I feel like nothing is what it seems....

For some time I have felt that Lost is based on a parallel universe. Seems like this is getting to be a more and more popular theory so I thought maybe I would add my comments.

Some theories of physics postulate the existence of many parallel universes, possibly even an infinite number which may or may not interact with each other. One theory is that the time flow in a parallel universe may be even be very different from another. Instead of bopping through time, I believe our Losties have been traveling across universes.

Now, let’s say we wanted to build our own parallel universe. We could select from one of the methods below. I am leaning toward number three.
1.Build an Einstein-Rosen bridge or wormhole. We need a whole lot of energy for this one
2.Open a window into the space-time continuum We need a bunch of energy for this one too.
3.Distort space and time with strong electromagnetic fields Let’s use the one under the Swan.

Now that we have our own universe, we may not want anyone messing with it. In fact there may be people out there that would like to change things so that our universe ceases to exist and theirs becomes the grand pupa of all universes. Oh no! a big war may be coming.

Instead he will continue to live and will again have the chance to pull the trigger. And each time he does pull the trigger, the universe will again split, with the version of the man who lives continuing on, and being unaware of all of his deaths in parallel universes. In this sense, he will be able to exist indefinitely. This is called quantum immortality.

Well I believe that the final season will begin with the '77 Losties back on the beach, and that the white light HAD to be another time flash (I have something to back this up). I also believe something happened during the flash to contain the energy underneath the Swan, and that the nuke was not a dud, but as stated in another theory posted here (can't remember which, sorry, I'll edit and give credit if I can) the energy was instead continually contained and moderately released by pressing the button, until the time of the Swan implosion in which the energy was weak enough so as not to destroy the whole island (but I don't have anything to back this up, just a belief).

Now for the good part... I'll leave it short and sweet.

There are many subtle clues and foreshadowing in Lost, to me this is obviously one for a couple reasons.

I went to the ABC site to watch a couple season 5 episodes and noticed episodes 12- the finale were all up- except for episode 14, "The Variable," in which Daniel Faraday comes back on the sub from Ann Arbor. I believed this episode had a vital clue to SOMETHING, ANYTHING in Season 6 because it wasn't on the site (very oddly) so I watched it thoroughly. I noticed this line in my rewatch and it stood out very plainly to me. It's the scene where all the '77 Losties and Freighter Crew are in Sawyer and Juliet's house in Dharmaville meeting about what to do.

Sawyer (To Jack as he walks out): When you realize you've made a huge mistake, we'll be back at the beach, right where we started.

I really believe this was meant to sound like he meant they would meet on the beach in '77, but was really used as a device to tell their fate after the finale.

Ever since Locke was asked "Help Me", he has been fooled by the man he thought was Jacob. This man was actually the MIB, who was manipulating Locke so that he could find a way to kill Jacob.

The MIB told Locke he had to move the Island because he knew it would cause time flashes, which would make Locke meet Richard in 1955 and tell him that he was their leader (MIB told Locke this lie). Richard saw this man disappear and believed it was true even though wen he visited him as a boy he was not special (because he isn't). Richard still believed what Locke had told him, so when he crashed on the island in 2004 he believed Locke was going to be the other's new leader.

The MIB is the one who told Richard what to tell Locke, when he helped his shot leg during the time flashes. The MIB said, tell Locke he needs to get off the island and get everyone back. I think he knew Locke would fail and kill himself, and his body would find it's way back to the island. This is when the MIB took his image and pretended he was resurrected.

The MIB not only fooled and manipulated Locke but he also used Richard by making him believe Locke was the new leader of the others.

I think the loophole was to get the leader of the others to kill Jacob, because if Locke was not the new leader then Ben was still their current one.

It's just a crazy lie and manipulation the MIB went through to get Richard to believe Locke was the leader and also get Locke killed so he can pass himself off as him.

I am a woman of faith. I believe in free will. I believe future can be changed. If you change something in the past.

I also believe that we are about to see fist 3 seasons or at least a season 1 from a different angle.

I also believe that some things we saw during first 3 seasons were a mix of two realities. Editing nothing more..
This show is under great influence of some people such are Richard Alpert (Ram Dass), Aldous Huxley, Blake, Castaneda...
They all talk about time, separate realities and drugs...doors of perception. So what if some of the main characters such as Hurley are able to see these realities but cannot wrap their mind around it so they thing they are crazy or that the island is talking to them. If you are on LSD or any other drug your mind is opening the doors you never thought you could open. What if this show is dealing with that. What if these realities are coexisting on the island and people, certain people who have been chosen are able to see these realities and maybe combine them or take the best out of both or something else. But these people such as Hurley, they think they are crazy yet they are not. Charlie is dead. Yes. In one reality but in another he is very much alive and this is the Charlie Hurley sees and talks to. "I am dead but I am also here". The man from a Santa Rosa also saw Charlie. What does it mean? He also can see dead people or maybe he can see into another reality. Leonard w! as not crazy because he really did hear the numbers. We know the numbers were there but who would believe poor Leonard?
Hurley thinks he is crazy, cursed and so on. He spent half of this show in mental institution. He can speak to dead people and he can see Jacobs cabin and he thinks he is the craziest one and that is the reason he is able to see all these things. But who can determine what is crazy. Am I crazy because I cant or can see something.

If you look at something with your eyes and then a wee bit later you picture it in your head what then? You visualize the same thing. So who is it that see, your eyes or your brain?

If I see something thats standing right in front of me and you are standing next to me and you cannot see it....who is right and who is wrong? Who is crazy and who is not? I cannot give an answer to that question. None can. It depends on how strong your faith is and how opened you mind is.

It is „common sense“ to think you are crazy if you can talk to a person that has been dead for some time now. But what if your mind is more open then other minds around you? What if you found the doors of perception and they are wide open in front of you? Wouldnt you be curious and look whats behind these doors?

Some things from first 3 seasons were weird...and all of them got to do with people who were in the 70s.

Jack woke up in the middle of the jungle with no recollection of the crash. He took flying lessons but it wasnt for him. So who was it for? :) Kate made a comment about him not being afraid at all. Maybe because he already been through all of this.

After monster killed the pilot Charlie got trapped and Jack came back to help him. Kate ran away and hid in the jungle screaming:Jack! But when Charlie found her he said: "I heard you shout Jack. My name is Charlie by the way." Whats up with that????
Kate was always volunteering for a hike and then Jack made a comment: As if you know what is inside these woods. What if she knew?
Sayid said to Danielle that Nadia is dead and she is dead now.

Sawyer just lost Juliet and is bitter again and angry at all of them for showing up and ruining the life they had for 3 years. He also said see you at the beach where we all started.

Hurley is carrying Charlies guitar with him around the island...Charlie had the guitar in the plane but he told Locke that the guitar is 100% smashed yet Locke found the guitar intact. Sayid was angry for keeping it a secret, things he does, from the other survivors...This all can be interpret in both ways. It is the editing. All in the editing.

It is not too strange but now I cannot help but believe that some parts of this show are another reality. I think that after Juliet hit the bomb they were sent back to the day of crash. Look at season 5 for example...we, the viewers knew who these people are but DI members had no idea. For them it was their present but we know that these people were always there, we know that Sawyer saved Amy and thus Than was born, the same Ethan who recruited Juliet, who delivered him, we knew that little Ben will survive and with sayids actions his trust issues will begin etc. But if we were shown 5th season as 1st season starting with episode La Fleur and Jim La Fleur as a head of security would we know that this man is man from the future who crashed on the island and his name is James Ford. No. We wouldnt. We would be surprised if we saw the same man as James Ford crashing on the island 30 years later. It is all relative. What if they are all back on the day of the crash with their rec! ollection of the past events? And this time we are well aware of it. (during season 1 there were little hints of things to come)

I mean Richard knew who Sawyer was all along...from 70s till the day he handed the file on Sawyer to Locke. For God sake it was Sawyer who brought Ben to Richard along with Kate who later with Sayid (who shot Ben in the 70s) helped Richard to save Ben from the Kahana crew. Richard knew who Kate was because he met her in 77. He knew who Locke was because he met him in 54. He knew Jack because he helped Jack with Jughead. Richard also knew Juliet because she was Sawyers girl and by the way they behaved with one another in the episode WH,H I believe they met on more than one occasion. But each and every time Richard acted as if he never met them before. Later on we found out the real truth. So what I am trying to say is that this time MAYBE we will see these people after the crash finding each other...and making a deal about being quite with a full knowledge of things to come.
I dont believe in "landing in LA" theories but I do believe in season 1 repeating theory...in a higher speed...

Maybe thats why we saw some things changing like Bens wound and photo frame changing....

It just occurred to me in light of recent theories / speculations on season 6 the reason behind the writers including the following conversation in Some Like It Hoth:

HURLEY: I don't know why you just won't admit it. You can trust me. I talk to lots of dead people.
MILES: [Incredulously] So, you have conversations with them, like they're your pals?
HURLEY: Sure, all the time. Sometimes we even play chess.
MILES: You actually see them?
HURLEY: Of course. Why wouldn't I?
MILES: Because that's not how it works.
HURLEY: Aha! You wouldn't know how it works unless you can do it.
MILES: What I can do has nothing to do with chatting with ghosts, you nitwit. It's a... feeling... a sense. When somebody's dead, their brain stops functioning, which means there's no more talking. There's just who they were and whatever they knew before they died.
HURLEY: [Turning back to his composition book] That's how it works for me.

This conversation always seemed odd to me - why are we hearing this? Is it to indicate that Hurley is crazy? That Miles is a liar?
Neither.
Miles talks to dead people.
Hurley does NOT.
Hurley talks to people from OTHER REALITIES.

Charlie: I'm Dead, but I'm also here.

Hurley has never been able to talk to dead people. He is a conduit between realities. The inclusion of this phenomena in the show I believe is an early indication from the writers that other realities exist and that this is where the show is, and always was heading. This could explain the whispers - Ghost Walt covered in water, etc.

Side note: Here is why this will be awesome and not lame as a story device:

The conflict will now be between who can see, change, and remember other realities. Perhaps this is how Desmond is special? In the Dark Tower, they have characters on the brink of death because their minds cannot cope with the fact that they are aware of two permutations of a given situation (character X dies, but also lives in another reality). I think this is the true explanation for "time" sickness.

I can't wait for season six. Don't bother with negative comments about how you don't want it to play out this way or that. The writers have taken us this far, let's trust that the story will be what it will be.

My theory is Ben is Jacob’s son. I reach that conclusion from the following:

1) It seems the Others have a myth or fable or story (or whatever you want to call it) about a specific person – a “chosen one” or the rightful leader of their camp. As part of that myth, this chosen one is supposed to kill his or her own father. The support for this lies in “The Brig” episode from season three. In that episode, Ben ties up Locke’s father and taunts Locke to kill his father. When he doesn’t, he tells his people that Locke is not who we thought he was. Locke cannot be the one they have been waiting for because he couldn’t kill his father.

2) This is more of a reach but comes from the Incident and the interaction between Ben and Jacob at the end – and how it seems their relationship has been throughout. The interaction, taken at face value, seems to show that Jacob never really thought much of Ben. Of course, taking things at face value with Lost never really seems to work.

What if we invert it and instead assume Jacob thought and cared a lot about Ben. Could Jacob being Ben’s father also explain Jacob’s unwillingness to let Ben meet him? To continually push Ben – to continually TEST Ben? I think it can. Perhaps not the healthiest father/son relationship, but a father/son relationship in which the father is testing/pushing/challenging his son – one where the father expects a lot from his son – on where the father is preparing the son for leadership.

Ben being Jacob’s son also explains what appears to us as Jacob manipulating Ben to kill him. Obviously Jacob knew his comment to Ben would provoke Ben to kill him – he didn’t even try to defend himself. Jacob would know that the “chosen” one will/has to kill his father – after all, it is part of the myth/fable that perhaps Jacob created himself.

3) And, of course, Ben is Jacob’s son in the Bible.

Finally, if Ben is in fact Jacob’s son it would point to Ben ultimately being a “good guy” – perhaps the leader of the “good guys”.

What if we have it backwards? What if Seasons 1-5 of Lost are the results of such a controlled, messed up timeline (thanks to Jacob) that with all the altering going on, it's caused all the discrepencies we've seen throughout the show (such as object placement changing)? This timeline where Desmond caused the crash of 815 and the Losties to be on the Island really did save the world from ending in 2004 after Desmond activated the fail-safe, which then led to events where the Losties were sent back in time (Desmond prolonging Charlie's death enough for him to let the Freighter come to the Island), but if one hadn't happened, leading to the other, then the world wouldn't have needed saved. Ms. Hawking has been working so hard to preserve this timeline from the Losties and Jacob's mistakes just so the world won't end, since if even one event had changed, it would have caused a devastating paradox and "God help us! all". If this loop had never occurred where the Losties go back in time/Desmond activating the failsafe, the world wouldn't have been in danger--Dharma would have gone about their work, Flight 815 wouldn't have crashed, the Losties would have lived out their lives off the Island, and Desmond would have married Penny after buying the ring.


Maybe the Whispers are from the real, unaltered timeline and Season 6 will be about the battle between these two timelines. We'll see people who are dead in the manipulated timeline be alive in the unaltered version. Can timelines try to merge now that all the events in the altered and ruined timeline are done? Imagine all the differences in these two timelines of who is dead/alive and how even the smallest of events played out.

A theory as to what will occur regarding the nuclear exposion...

When the nuke went off, the strange matter at the Swan site absorbed the energy of the explosion. When this happens, the magnetic effect is neutralized and stops pulling in all the metal.

Everything seems to be fine, for almost two hours. Then, the magnetic pull starts up again. A quick thinking person (perhaps Dr. Chang), figures out a way to release some of the absorbed energy, which causes the magnetic effect to cease, for almost another two hours - or 108 minutes, to be more exact. They release some energy again...

They go ahead and build the Swan, to study the strange matter, and also serve as a bunker from which energy can be released every 108 minutes. Concerned that the nature of the release is radioactive, they quarantine the area outside the hatch. Inoculations against radiation sickness are provided (I believe the injections given during orientation @ the barracks are against local disease and not related to the injections inside the Swan).

A failsafe is installed, which can be used to destroy the station by releasing all of the energy at once.

After 20+ years of slowly releasing some of the energy, when Desmond finally turns the key, the force of the explosion is lessened to the point that it just screws with the sky a bit and leaves the swan a smoldering crater. Some technobabble about strange matter and energy release, and you end up with Desmond's mind unstuck in time.

I don't think the radiation has anything to do with women dying during pregnancy, though.

When the nuke (presumably, but I do doubt that they would fake us out like that) I was surprised at the amount of people who were in the "WHH" or "Flight 815 landing in LA) camps. It was strange for two reasons, one, because what would happen if WHH were the case? Jack and everone would have died due to the colossal blast. Then we would have no story.

And also I thought, surely a nuke would change more than that. Would alter more than simply the plane crash?

I'd have thought for certain that mostly everyone on the island would have died. Including Widmore, Eloise, Daniel Faraday's foetus. Perhaps even Jacob.

If this was the case, then the flashbacks/forwards of "The Incident" would have a particularly important meaning.

Jacob would never had a chance to warn Kate off her robbery spree. What if she carried on with her petty theft, was caught when she was about 15 or so, put in Juvenile prison then came out a few months later on the straight and narrow.

He would never have had a chance to give Sawyer that pen. What if because of that, Sawyer never deveolped his obsession with Sawyer and put his charisma to a more noble use.

What if Jack, because of Jacob's "Sometimes it just takes a little push" never understands that his father was helping him in the theatre, works with him for a week or so more than asks to be transferred to another hospital?

What if, without Jacob's wise words, Sun and Jin divorce quickly, she runs away with Jae Lee and he becomes more and more embroiled in Paik's activities.

And what if Locke is never healed with Jacob's touch. What if he dies as soon as he hits the floor, and stays dead.

That's a lot of what if's but if Jacob was killed in the blast, then life would be very different for the survivors.

And none more so than for Desmond, who's great love Penelope, child of Widmore, would never have existed (provided she was over 29 years old).

The bomb could change a lot more than the plane landing, which is what I think has been ridiculous.

And even if Jacob didn't die, Desmond would never have come to the island, as Widmore (and his race) wouldn't exist.

So say this is what happened. Desmond is alone in the world.

The only person (if he is indeed immortal) who would know about the Losties, is Richard. Who encountered Locke in 54, Sawyer in 74 and a lot of them in 77.

He was told by Locke what would happen, and when it doesn't, he may go out looking for them. Seeing everyone in vastly different lives he searches for someone to help. And lands on Desmond. Who is special.

Because of this, I think the first 6 or so episodes on this season of Lost will show us what could have happened in the survivors lives, and how important the island is to them.

It will show us Desmond going to the island with Richard to correct the timeline and bring penny back into existence.

It will show us The Others' mission.

And how will he change the past, I think he will go to the island, flash into "Where he is supposed to be" as I believe happened to jack et al in 316. From there he will convince Richard to turn the wheel. And Eloise will do this. Banishing her forever.

Ok, so with what was shown at comic con i.e. the videos and all the talk of returning cast members it seems pretty clear where the final season is headed. They are going to make both Whh and reset true. So, how do you ask are they going to do this? Well after jughead went off they spawned a new parallel universe where 815 didn't crash. This theory does not discount all the hard work and sacrifice of our losties the previous 5 years because they are still alive and kicking in their own universe where they always took a nose dive on a strange island on September 24th 2004. Instead of flashbacks and flashforwards this year we are going to see parallel universe flashes and see all our old friends that have died in the universe we know. It would not surprise me to see that some of them maybe all that died have crossed over into this universe and that's what we have see and not ghosts, same thing for the whispers, they! are bleeding over into this universe, reality whatever you want to call it. I'm also convinced some of the people we have seen in the previous 5 years has been an alternate version of the ones we know and love. How does Jacob and the M.I.B. fit in it all? I'm still not sure but I do believe both parallel universes will come together at some point and the island not only moves in space and time but also between these parallel realities. If you have read The dark Tower by stephen king and the stand which Darlton both admit influence Lost than it is at least to me pretty evident that Lost is sort of a cross between the 2. Well that's it, i'm pretty sure i'll think of more stuff to add but I believe this is definatly the direction the show is headed.

Alright. My theory is that there is absolutely no reset. If what they did caused a reset, then how did Richard see all of them die in the past? He could not have because they don't have any sort of shared past where he could have seen that and the Richard with Flocke and Ben is not cannon anyway if there is a reset.

Unless, Flocke, Ben, Sun are inside the new reset, which would explain why the old losties are coming to them.

Second, they will never show the cabin again.

If MIB was the man trapped inside the cabin, then he cannot be the smoke monster. The ash might have been a marker rather than something keeping someone in because as we've seen the cabin moves. Perhaps the cabin travels through space and time, although there is no reason for it to do that because Horus built it.

And Bernard and Rose are Adam and Eve if the main losties move through time from the explosion.

This theory borrows on others I've seen posted about parallel timelines. When Jack set of the bomb, he started a new, alternate timeline with its origin in 1977, but the old one still exists (seen in 2007). In other theories I've read, there's been talk of having to merge the two theories at some point. My thought is that there will be no need for that, because the old timeline - in which MIB kills Jacob - will end in the destruction of the world. "God help us all." MIB doesn't seem to like people. He doesn't want people coming to the island and he kills them off when he can. He may have tried to get Charles to kill off Danielle. Flocke told Richard they were going to have to "deal with" the people who brought him there. His end game is the destruction of the human race.

So in order to save the future, the Losties are going to have to rebuild a new timeline, starting from 1977, and make sure it ends differently. There will be no point in them returning to the present, because there will be nothing left for them to return to.

I'm betting we see young Christian in the past, and Jack and Christian can work out their issues so that Christian never dies of alcoholism in Australia and never becomes a tool of the MIB. I'd also expect Des, Penny, baby Charlie, Aaron, Sun & Jin's baby, and Walt (and possibly older Ellie, Widmore, and Ray Shephard) to arrive back on the island soon. When Flocke figures out what they are doing, maybe he time jumps backward himself, trying to try to stop them.

This is not a theory per se’ more of an observation:
I think we are all confident that Darlton do not do things without reason. Nothing is said without somewhere, buried deep, a hint or an allusion to what’s coming. I think ComiCon gave us a little more than what we think we saw.
The surprise “gift” that they gave out when someone said the code word “Claire” was more than just a throw away. I think there is some major significance to the bird, or at least the episode that it originated from. Par Avion – episode S3-12. At the time, I think it was a good episode. We got to see The Flame and Mikhail and the losties trek in the jungle to rescue Jack.
I re-watched that episode yesterday (just picked a random ep. from the DVR), I saw 2 very strange scenes. The first was Kate talking to Danielle Rouso. Kate asked why, when Rouso was told that her daughter was among the “others”, did Rouso not ask a single question about her. Her response was something to the effect of if she (Kate) saw Jack 16 years in the future and he didn’t know who she was, would she want to know about him – seems to me a bit of foreshadowing…
The second conversation was Mikhail responding to questions from the group of Lock, Kate, Rouso, and Sayid. Mikhail, sarcastically said something like “Sayid Jarra – I know nothing of you, or Kate Austen, I don’t know you (naming them by their full names) and then getting to Locke and saying “But John Locke, you I vaguely remember……” he was about to continue but was cut off.
Another side observation; If you look at Lockes actions – he doesn’t seem “himself”. He seems to be very tough, and purposeful – similar to his actions and demeanor after his return to the island in season 5. Without thought, he blows up the flame station and later pushes Mikhail through the sonic fence. I just found those actions strange (for that time).
I think Darlton put this out there to show us a clear plan was in the works from day one (as I believe every die hard fan believes) but for the non-believers, proof.

Here is my theory for the opening scene of Season 6. Jack takes his seat on Oceanic Flight 815. There are shots of other castaways taking their seats on the plane like normal. They all sit there unaware of each other. They all make small talk throughout the flight. They land at LAX. It looks like Jack's reset plan worked. All of a sudden, Jack wakes up in the jungle only to realize it was a dream.

The bomb never went off, otherwise he wouldn't be alive, right? Wrong! The bomb did go off and triggered the electromagnetic energy under the Swan. The energy coupled with the explosion has caused one final time jump.

Jack gets up to explore the jungle for the hundredth time. He stumbles upon a severely injured Juliet lying in the same spot in the Swan that she was lying in when she triggered the bomb.

He rushes to her and looks around, realizing for the first time that he is inside the imploded Swan station

Jack helps Juliet out of the hole in the ground and they go to investigate their surroundings.

Back at the Dharma van, Kate and Sawyer have met back up with Jin, Hurley and Miles. Miles is in shock and keeps asking where his father is. Finally Jack practically carries Juliet out of the jungle to the clearing where Hurley has parked the Dharma van.

They all walk through the jungle and come across Jacob's campsite where The Others/Bram & Ilana/Locke's body are.

Here’s a little something that struck me after watching, “The Incident” for a second time.

Of all the people Jacob visited in the flashbacks, Ilana was the only one who knew him. My guess is it’s because she was an island inhabitant (along with Bram) possibly before the Black Rock landed on the island. The reasoning for this is two-fold. One: When Ilana came out of the cabin and gave the cloth to Bram he said, “I guess we know where we’re going.” This was after he saw the picture of the statue (before it was destroyed) drawn on the cloth. Naturally they wouldn’t know where they were going unless they had previous knowledge of the statue’s location. Two: Since Ilana and Bram didn’t know who Richard was, they must have left the island before Richard arrived on the Black Rock.

Further, I think that Jacob’s comment, “They’re coming” refers to Ilana and Bram. It’s possible the reason MIB looked angry/concerned (after kicking Jacob in the firepit) is because he knows them. If MIB was the one trapped in the cabin, I think Bram and Ilana are the ones who trapped him there, and here’s why…

We know that Ilana and Bram had the corpse of Locke in the box, even though they were talking to a live Locke. Having personal knowledge of MIB and what he was able to do (take on the form of other people), I think they first went to the cabin to see if he was still trapped in there. When they saw the ash circle was broken, they seemed concerned. On the way to the cabin, Frank asked what they were doing with the dead Locke. Bram said they had to show it to somebody “so they’ll know what they’re up against.” Something “a lot scarier than what’s in the box.” He then goes on to say, “don’t worry though, as long as you’re with us, you’re fine.” That confident statement left me with the impression that Bram believes MIB has little or no power over him and Ilana. The familiarity of how he talks about MIB almost suggests a prior personal encounter.
Now I know the biggest deal breaker for this is the fact that MIB (as FLocke) already saw Ilana and Bram when the crashed on the island. So he wouldn’t be surprised by Jacob’s statement, “They’re coming” if it referred to them. Except for the fact that when we saw Ilana in her flashback, she was all bandaged up. Perhaps a new face that MIB didn’t recognize? Since we have no flashback on Bram, it’s possible that he too may have had a different look. Farfetched? Not when you consider all the things we've seen on Lost thus far.

All that said, season 6 may focus on more of their backstory and how the Oceanic 815’ers are all connected…and why they needed to be the ones to fight this war. I would be surprised if in the end we didn’t find out that they were all chosen for a reason.

The Alternate Reality

Ever since season three signed off on the first ever “We’ve got to back Kate” Flash Forward, we have ventured in to a new formula for each of the following two seasons, so what now? What of season 6? A lot of people have speculated on an alternate reality theory, after seeing the Lost titles on a white background, I support this theory. I believe season 6 will start with alternate flashes, revealing the lives of the Losties having never crashed on the island and how they come to crash instead three years after. They do not recall their previous lives on the island, and fall victim to a bloody take over from the Black Shirt Guy. The other reality keeps bleeding in and out of this new reality, revealing to the Losties what their lives once were and to prevent this dark future from becoming what it is, they have to revert back into their own and save Jacob. The island never actually moved in space it moved in realities and the whispers? They are the result of this bleedi! ng.

Which brings me to Desmond, he is unique, “special”, and we currently believe this has something to do with time, but this might not be entirely true. Go back to Flashes before your eyes, after Desmond blew up the hatch maybe he didn’t go back in time, maybe he jumped realities. He was given the choice to change his destiny but he refused to do so, he lives the same fate in both realities. When Faraday was banging on the hatch door, maybe he was speaking to an alternate Desmond, and the connection shared between the two sparked something in his alternate self. Hurley is another example, currently he see’s “dead people” (Not trying to go all sixth sense on you) but maybe this is not true, maybe he can see into another reality and the people in there know for some reason what is going on in our reality and keep trying to warn and guide Hurley to his destiny.

Jacob knows all this; the Losties he “touched” are the only ones who can save him because they are the only ones who have lived lives in two realities, the only ones to have shaped their own destinies. He wanted Ben to kill him, because ultimately it was the only way he could defeat black shirt guy, the only way the Losties would do what they needed to do in the end, so he shaped Ben for what destiny dictated him to do. His death was for the greater good and the longest con
